I have a '98 Esprit; completely stock. 21K miles and am considering changing the exhaust to the center exit style, sans muffler, with the 'grater' rear valence and stock cats. Does anyone have an opinion as to how this will sound? and if there will be a performance uptick?

tks

My 03 has the center exhaust. My stock cats went bad and I replaced with sport cats through JAE. We went straight pipes and I think it sounds great. Not too load, just nice and throaty. Hard to tell if there is a performance diff as I didn't really drive the car much before the change. Very happy with the sound.

On my 2003, went with 200 CPI cats and the stock center mounted tailpipes.
Too loud for me!
Actually, the exhaust note was fine inside the car, but I thought it might be a bit too much for my neighbors to stomach (and maybe the cops). So I installed the Larini replacement, which actually has some functioning mufflers incorporated into it.
Still sounds good in a tunnel!

Funny, I just DID that to my 2003 !
I added the JAE 200 Cell Cats and left the stock Exhaust.
To me its HOW the car should sound, at normal driving speeds its still very calm
but once you get past 4k its just amazing.

Check my small video of this setup.
