Hi i wonder if anyone out there is able to help? Our 98'Esprit V8 esprit was having hot start problems (it wouldn't start when it was hot, after stopping to put fuel in etc!) and it was recomended to me to have the starter motor replaced. When it went in to have the replacement it was running fine albeit with the hot start problem. Since they have removed (and subsequently replaced) the Plenum to change the motor it now runs awful, it feels like its major misfiring, lumpy, unresponsive and lags when accelorating!! It feels like when the coil pack went on my other car? i've taken it back to them, they claim to have investigated it and charged me £300 for the priviledge yet it's no better, if anything its worse!!! They tell me its running much smoother (its not) but my turbos are both in need of attention (leaking) and they are causing the lambda sensors to malfunction which is adjusting the engine management. Until i have two new /refurbed turbo's they won't be able to assess the problem and fix it!!!! i find it extremely coincidental that this has all occured at exactly the same time they removed the plenum!!!! could they have disturbed something under the plenum that is causing these symptoms, what is under the plenum and what could disconection or incorrect refitting result in? p.s. this is a very respected UK independant lotus specialist but i am struggling to take their word for it and am convinced that although i need to sort the turbo's the lumpy running is down to incorrect replacement of the plenum somehow?
