Want to give a huge thank you to WGI and the SCCA for hosting the first ever SCCA track day at The Glen. Also encourage Lotus owners to sign up next year for this event.

It was two days of open track use with two passing zones with wave past. Was open to all cars with no special safety restrictions other then helmet. Broken into 3 groups. beginner, intermediate and advanced. Two 20 minute sessions into the morning, lunch in infield hospitality building, two 25 minute session in the after noon, plus a 30 minute session at the end of the open to all groups. In total I got over 4 hours of track time at full out speed.

Car preformed amazingly, was my first time on a road course so the Exige wanted more then I was ready to give.

Hope to see some more Lotus’s there next year. Was a 87 Lotus “7” style but he blew a head gasket early on. Lots of American muscle Corvette’s Mustang’s Camero’s plus Miata, Subaru, S2000, BMW and a few VW

Fun track! Glad your car came together so well. I'll have to consider this event next year.
You should run the Lotus LTD event at WGI next year and you'll be drowning in Lotuses (Loti?). There were plenty of other fun cars as well.

The Glen is a fun track, great location, specially in the summer! What suspension are you using in your Exige?

At the moment car is stock track pack shocks and brakes. Upgraded header, de-cat and titanium exhaust.

How was or is the turnout for the event? I know the region responsible for it (at least formally) had some uneasiness with getting sufficient counts to avoid a huge financial hit.

Thanks! And very glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Around 50 cars each day. Not sure if that was a good number.

50 cars divided between 3 groups (or 4, assuming there was an instructor group) is a low number given the size (length) of the Glen. It can easily take 25 cars at a time. You must have had plenty of open track!

You mentioned two passing zones? I'm used to 8 or 9 passing zones there (the 9th being between turns 10 and 11, some clubs don't allow passing there because of pit-in), were there really only two passing zones (main straight and back straight, I'd assume)? Also, did SCCA have drivers self-select their run group, or did they assign run groups based on documented previous experience, instructor reviews, etc? My experience has been that when clubs allow self selection, there's often a driver or few that place themselves too high.

By the way, I was there with SCDA for two days just prior to your SCCA event, they also run good events and they have a lot of "regulars" which helps with consistency.

@AustinP Yes front and back straights. We self selected. No instructors, but beginners did have a pace car that showed the line for first to laps. No Tech inspection on cars either. Only checked helmets.

@AustinP Open track, yes ! Since this was my first time ever on a road course I stayed in the back to start, intermediate group, gave myself some room and went from there. By second day it was like I had track to myself, only had 2 or 3 of the fastest cars pass me after 20 minutes of driving.

After about 100+ SCCA Club Racing races in a Formula car I am happy to hear you have found my addiction. Thanks Workers! When I was able to get my Esprit on the high banks of Daytona nothing passed me.....remember you'll not take the money with you.

Haha true, but after 4 months rebuilding car the back of mine was saying it’s a long summer bring car home in one piece. When I ran circle track if you clipped the wall hammers, torches and a welder could fix almost anything. Not true on these cars. Little more seat time and I’ll test it’s limits a little more.
