I'm researching a 2006 "Federal Elise" that they are claiming only 1076 we're made that year. What's the scoop?
A federal elise is one made for the U.S. market.

If it is for sale in the U.S. and can be legally registered in the U.S., it is a federal Elise. It is not a version designation like California Elise or 72D Elise.

Numbers are probably close.

Let me guess, it is at a non-Lotus dealership?

Dealerships that know little about Elises tend to emphasize unusual things when selling.

The fbi ordered those elises to keep up with the crooks in those supercharged el caminos, hence the federal elise. They can easily be identified with the "e" mark on the rear window.

Btw this forum is full of fbi employees

;)

neobert, you may be looking at the same Elise I was looking at a month ago based out of Cupertino. White Elise with 30k miles? I spoke to the "owner" recently, and exchanged a bunch of emails. He seemed about shady and sort of hard to get ahold of. Last minute before we arranged to see it, he said this would be a dealer transaction and sent an itemized list with a bunch of fees/charges. But he claims this is a private party sale, so I'm not really sure what's going on there. Looks like he's had it listed for at least a month or two.

Suspicious to ask for a number.

Only a sucker sends contact info at first contact on cl.
I just flag anything with that fishing tag.
