Not sure if it affects rattles any, but it is the tilt adjustment that affects how tightly the window seals against the top weather stripping. This sometimes need adjusting when you change from a hardtop to the soft top. They aren't always exactly the same. I suggest you have another look in you car. My late 02 Elise has them - they are on all Elises.huh... when did they add this? My early 05 doesn't have it.

they are there on all cars.... you just never noticed it, much like a crack dealer in the hood.huh... when did they add this? My early 05 doesn't have it.
