a family car and a rally car!

- a 560 sel from -89 ( a long story ) http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforum/showthread.php3?threadid=71491

- a 300 sdl from -86 ( has saved me a lot of money )
For all to see, I just wanted to share my very first rallycross with my trusty 300SDL.
I was running production class at a SCCA event amongst Subaru's and alike. ( Practicing for my Elise )
I did quite well actually and can't wait to see the results posted on
http://www.nwr-scca.org/rallycross/July_18_2004.htm

The video of me in the SDL found it's way to a Subary forum:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho...150#post7087150

- and here is the link to the video itself:
www.zero2blur.com/merc.mpg

I had a blast and will do it again with my wife actually.

Jari

PS. Who knew that an S class could handle offroad. Just take out the childseat and paint 110 on the window.
- oh yeah and pop the sunroof for the helmet.

MINI Cooper. (SS+)
Sienna Van.

I will be looking forward to a ride in an Elise. I want to see how the ride compares to the Cooper. After a year and 9 months I do not think the MC with the tighter suspension is to much for every day.

I wonder if I could live with the LSS as a daily driver? I know it would require different tyres.

A nicely modded 2001.5 VW Passat 1.8T. I was hoping that Lotus would use that engine in the Elise. Easy to mod, great hp and torque.

Had considered an A4, but wanted a larger car. Guess you could say that it fits in between the A4 and A6.

TVR T350C

In the family there is also a dark silver Mini Cooper S.

When we relocate to the US, these will get replaced by an Elise (for me) and probably a Nissan 350Z (for him - currently trying to persuade him to get the Z over annother Mini).

Previous cars I have owned:

2003 Nissan 350Z
1974 Aston Martin V8
2001 Lotus Elise (S2)
2000 TVR Tuscan
2001 Mazda MX5
1974 V8 MGB Roadster
1966 MGB GT

Girlracer, you dont happen to have a source for MG Metro Turbo motors do you?

I have a mini with a metro turbo motor and thought it wouldnt hurt to have a spare.

NOW:

2001.5 Audi S4
1998 Audi A6

THEN (in chronological order of me owning them):

1985 BMW (grey market) 318i BAUR TC
1980 (grey market) Porsche 928
1991 Lotus Elan
1993 Toyota MR2 (believe it or not, my favorite)
1997 BMW M3

I'm not counting my first car, a 1985 Pontiac (actually Opal) LeMans that my parents "forced" on me- I wanted a used VW GTI or BMW 2002, but they wanted me to have a new "safer" car. It was a piece of crap, but, you know, it never stranded me or cost me much when I was a poor high school student (15ish years ago).

Hey Wallabyguy,
I am very curious about your Laser Blue car. I too ordered Laser Blue and I now hear peopler saying that the color is on hold, etc. My dealer hasn't told me anything like this. Is your car built, on the water, at port ??

It was a lot of fun, but since I had an early one (2000) the handling left a little to be desired... Awesome in a straight line though. :) The T350 is by far superior - combines the great stuff about the Tuscan with a near Elise-like handling quality. It has been my favourite car so far, and I soooo wish I could bring it to the States with me.

Here are some pics of my Tuscan:

Perry,

Here's what I know, or can say. Lazer Blue was never officially an option. There was an announcment at the LA Autoshow that it would be offered for a limited number of buyers during the first and possibly second batches of orders. The first Lazer Blue cars were scheduled for a July Build. they, like some other colors, were groupped for effeciency (sp). this meant I would wait a little longer for my car than I would have otherwise (being in 1st position at my dealer) and other would get theirs sooner. Lotus did not commit to producing the color over a long term and thus the final production numbers will be extremely limited.

If your order is in the first batch (top 10) then your car may be/have been produced with mine. A statement made by James A was that he saw 3 finished Lazer Blue Federal cars ready for their trip on July 12th during a factory tour. He also mentioned they were beautiful. Read that as you wish.

In summary. The only delay is the same kind of delay any small order color has had. Was/are the cars being built? Yes, from all that I know. Will/ can I order one now? I wouldn't bet on it. On the flip side I bet there is more demand for Lazer than Krypton or Aztec and those colors are being "marketed" so availability may change. Congrats on your color choice and PM me if you want to chat about it. Also see this thread for more discussion.
