Anyone know where to purchase a good trailer for the elise? Everything I have seen has been heavy and huge, I'd like a nice aluminum one that is the perfect size for the elise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We're currently looking too. So I'd enjoy any responses as well.

Here's the kicker. When we used to travel to races alot we purchased a trailer for our miata. We purchased it from a guy who had it built specifically for his LOTUS europa and elan. It was lightweight, very low, double axle, VERY nice. He apparently used to be heavy into racing. It had all sorts of cool John Player special decals on it, and various LOTUS function decals. At the time I thought they were cool ( ive always loved lotus) but didnt think too much of it because I didn't know much about Lotus. Boy I wish I had that trailer now.

We sold that trailer 6 years ago and not a day goes by when I wish we didnt have it back, especially now. We tried to buy it back from the person we sold it to but he doesnt want to sell. :(

Anyone know much about the trailers that you drive up on and they pivot back down? We've seen several of those in our area and they look pretty cool.

Holy slow website Batman...

Thanks for the link, I am checking them out now. One of their pics has an Exige on their trailer:

That car is the "twin" to my car. Both were outfitted with the Motorsport brake package at the factory. Interestingly, the owner also lives in Chicago.

Their web site isn't very good, but the trailers are great (at least if they are the ones I think they are).

I saw one at a LOG once with a nice Seven on it a few years back. The trailers are assembled from extruded aluminum that is bolted/clamped together. The extrusions have a T slot in them that allows you to move/clamp wheel stops and tie down points in place on the trailer, making them adjustable to your specific car. Extremely high quality, extremely light weight. They are also pretty low to the ground, so it makes loading easy.

It always seemed silly to me to have a typical 3,000+ pound trailer to tow a 1,500 -2,000 pound car (my Elan or Elise), and therefore requiring a substantial towing rig. These trailers are the solution - they weigh a lot less than 1,000, and can tow our cars with something reasonable.

One slight disadvantage is that you can't go to your local trailer dealer with a large supply on the lot and get them - they sell them direct from only two locations. But then again, Elise owners (and to be owners) are used to limited dealers and custom ordering...

So model 7031 works, but $4700? Ouch.

Has anyone with a car looked into a hitch setup (yes, I know it's virtually impossible). Max

For reference, according to Road & Track:

Weight: 1975
Wheelbase: 90.6 in.
Track f/r: 57.0 in. / 59.0 in.
Length: 149.0 in.
Width: 67.7 in.
Height: 45.2 in.

That excludes mirrors.

What are the width dimensions edge of wheel to edge of wheel?
