My car makes a whistling sound around 2k RPMs in any gear. Which has me a little concerned. I feel like I've heard it before previously, then went away... then came back. Not sure.
Anyway.. it's there now and I can hear it. I can't tell if it happens in higher RPMs. Cabin noise may be drowning it out.

It's there when idle, too. But does go away when I put very slight pressure on the clutch pedal.

Any thoughts?

I gotta take it in for the 30K service... but thought I'd post and see if anyone knows what's up or has a similar issue.

Mine makes more of a vibrating sound around 2500 rpm- 3000 rpm, and it too goes away when I step on the clutch. Sounds like it is coming from somewhere on the passenger side.

Does it do it when the car is not moving, if so, then it isnt an air leak.

Mine does it when the car isnt moving.:shrug:

not so, the engine still sucks air when its not moving, try it for yourself, disconnect one of the tubes going to the airbox and you'll hear a fairly loud whistle.

Sounds like a Lotus thing. Yeah.

Yeah. It does it when the car is stationary. Very audible from the outside, too.
It's got more a loose squeak than an air sucking sound. Hah. I really don't know how else to describe it.
Very slight clutch pedal pressure makes it go away.

I heard a sucking noise the other day from my lotus as well...

Turned out to be dollars being sucked from my wallet at the Ferrari dealership as I bought a cup holder, brackets, and new wheel center badges for the Elise.

I am sure that when I get another paycheck the sucking sound from my wallet will decrease! :wallbang:
