Why is the rear diffuser on the Euro Elise smoother and flatter than the Fed Elise?

Is it because of a different configuration for the exhaust system?

Thanks, Chris. I don't mean to be ignorant but what do you mean by "standard S2"? I'm curious if that diffuser could be used on our cars.
