I hit the breaks yesterday and something came flying out from under the passenger seat and pinballed around inside the footweel. It was my defroster knob!

The dealer had told me that it was broken and lost and that they would order a new one for me and send it ... but they never sent a replacement. So, I've been nearly cutting my fingers torquing the defroster post by hand.

It was 100% aluminum and reattached with a small allen wrench.

Not a very exciting thread, I know, but ... yeay! My car is whole again.

This proves that 'CC' is
allowed to do minor miracles here on earth, providing they are restricted to
Lotus cars. Be thankful that he didn't
decide to hit you in the head with the knob. Had you not realized its appearance on the scene, I am sure he would have 'beaned' you with it.
Hmmm,

Where did I see that car with 600 plus miles on it :)

I'm glad you found the knob, it's going to get cold soon

Heh - you found me out. :D
600 no more ;)

edit: by '600 no more' I mean "it no longer has 600 on it". Its now got over 4,000 miles on it. -doma
From the picture it looks like you can pull the knobs right out.

Not that it matters, but I beg to differ :)

Actually, when I went to pick it up it was at 750 miles. I think once they knew it was going they took in on a few more drives.

It was a total impulse buy ... I saw the Elise for the first time on ebay on a thursday while surfing ebay motors and thought it looked awesome. I was looking for something 'different' and boy did I find it. I read up on it and within a week I won that auction. I'm very happy with it - the elise is such a fun car. Thank god I didn't know about it years ago ... agonized waiting is something I don't handle well.

No - once you tighten the allen screw the knobs hold on very tight.

If you ever lose one again, you can just replace them all with something vintage and british....

These go to eleven! ;)
