Since RLS is a NuKey reseller, we have been asked by a couple people whether we will honor the group buy pricing. Yes, we will. I believe that goes until the 20th, so if interested simply add your name to the list in this thread. [ Current pricing level: $120 ]

From the manufacturer:

-addl ightness-
The term I like to use is Subtractive Engineering. A very Lotus Cars like thing to do. You take away everything that does not need to be there. No extra material. No extra space. No swoops or shapes because you can. Everything has a reason to be there. It is as if you sucked the metal down around the fob circuit board and key blank.using a vacuum. Nothing you do not need. Form following function. Subtractive Engineering.

What was the vision? Any design should start with some goals. Our goals were:

Small as possible. Why?

Bigger LOOKS clunkier. The car is about minimal
Bigger is harder to fit in the pocket. Thicker means edges I don’t want to feel.
Bigger means more weight on the ignition. Over time that is not good.
Bigger means more chance of hitting it with your knee/leg in the car. For many people, their legs are close to the ignition on the Elise/Exige.
So, SMALL!

Second goal was to make sure that the buttons were intuitive. You use one 99% of the time. That one should be more prominent and larger. A design with the wrong button the more prominent (used for syncing the fob) will confuse others.

Third goal was that it should be durable.

Fourth goal. It should reflect the car.

Fifth goal was potential use on other brands (do not make it totally marquee specific).

Sixth goal is styling. It should look good. Small also helps here.

Last goal was pricing.

So goals 1-7, I think we nailed it. It is small, not much larger than a US quarter. As small as the stock fobless key in my Exige. It does not stick out more than the stock key!

The buttons reflect the Lotus Logo… but not too obvious. The larger button is the one you push.

We decided to allow an optional Lotus derived logo for those that want it. And blank for those that do not.

The top is machined high grade anodized aluminum. The buttons are molded silicone rubber. The back is high strength Delrin or ABS. We need a plastic back to allow the RF signals to pass through.

The attachment point for the keychain is also a design element, we used the engine cam profile to define the outline. Details!

If you want the Lotus logo on it, fine. If you want to add the lapel pin to the back? Fine. If you want the LED hole or not? Fine. All options.

Nothing more than what you need. Everything for a purpose. Durable. Small. Light.

Please add me for one 168 w/ logo + hole for the red light

Just to be sure, 168 blank is good for an '06 Elise, correct?

Also, if there is an error in cutting the blank, can additional ones be ordered?
