I sold my 07 Exige several years ago when Criswell in Gaithersburg, MD dropped Lotus (after about 20 years or more). I bought my car in 2008 from Criswell, a new leftover, and the warranty started then. When Criswell dropped, had about a year left on the warranty, with the nearest dealership in Pittsburgh. Essentially rendering the warranty useless, so I let the car go.

In the ensuing years, Euro Motors briefly was a Lotus dealer, since then it's still Pittsburgh or NJ (Rothrock in Philly, also a long time dealer, dropped Lotus as well).

I now find myself POSSIBLY looking for another modern Lotus: Elise, Exige or perhaps even an Evora. Ownership no longer rests on a relatively nearby dealership, but wondering what shops in the DMV up to Baltimore, and over to Annapolis (where I am) are competent with the Toyota powered Lotus. I can do the basics myself, but physically I'm less able to crawl all over and under a car, so would still need a shop for anything more complicated than oil change and brakes.

Who are you guys using?

I feel blessed living in Toronto. The dealership here is superb but is strictly a 9 to 5, Monday to Friday shop. If you are ever up this way on a trip, try them out.

I use Artin Karimian at GT Peace in Chantilly, VA. (He used to be at RRT, the BMW competition specialist). He has worked on my Elise, as well as several others, and has experience with Esprits and Evoras.

I hope to see you back in a Lotus soon!

A good friend of a good friend Owns:
Mega Auto Glass 11806 Coakley Cir, Rockville, MD 20852
They have a master mechanic who is great(Kevin). I had him remove rear clam, install new camshafts, valve springs, cold air intake, fuel pump, investigate oil leak which required supercharger removal, and tighten up shift cables

I was recommended to ARautoPRO 7545 Rickenbacker Dr, Gaithersburg, MD 20879 for alignment

I use Milex in Frederick.

I don't know the backstory (as it seems like a typical tire/oil/alignment maintenance shop) but the owner knows lotuses. He diagnosed my electrical issue pretty quick. I had my car towed there all the way from Columbia and definitely felt like they knew what they were doing.

I hate having to explain to shops to remove the undertray/diffuser to jack the car and explaining the lock/immobilizer and not to leave the battery on, etc etc

milex is good? I live in Frederick.

I was debating another lotus and sold my Exige after EuroMotorcars (whom I work for with Mercedes, new car manager in Germantown Maryland) sold them off... but really have an eye on the depreciating Evora GT/400's for next year... love my AMG daily, but like a manual 3 pedal car for trackdays.

I wrote off Lotus since only dealers for service seemed so far away and was worried about track prep and maintenance (zero time these days for "do it myself" and also don't always trust myself)

Oh ya, I'd definitely go there if I lived in the area. I think most recently they did an alignment for me after I installed toe links and hobbled my car over. They said I probably should have let them do the install, lol. Their schedule is mostly open which makes it pretty convenient. In contrast - good luck finding a timeslot at Lotus Pittsburgh.

They did charge me for undertray removal (for an oil change maybe?). So while I think prices are fair, be prepared for an occasional "Lotus" markup. Worth it knowing they won't drop it off the lift though!

I dunno too much about Evoras (do the clutches go?) but may want to call and ask if they'd be willing to handle some of the known bigger tasks.

I've used Milex in Frederick before for my Elise. The owner (Albert) used to be a Lotus tech, I think at Criswell when they had Lotus. The main issue for me is it's a drive from where I am (Bethesda) and not the easiest logistically to get back home. Sometimes I'd do the MARC train but it only runs during rush hour and in the opposite direction I usually want to go.

Someone else mentioned Mega Auto Glass and Kevin. Did he come from Criswell also? The name is really familiar, though maybe from years earlier when I owned an Esprit. Also there was a Jamie who worked at Criswell then moved to the Laurel area. Not sure where he is these days.
