Well, I can see how a car that causes you to lose your license would not be as much fun anymore.

OK, so the police were in an unmarked car, right? At one point one of them makes the comment that "the ferrari made us" and I can't imagine people doing that in front of a cop. How did he get a copy of the police video I wonder...

bab,
Under UK laws, you have a right to a copy of videos involved with traffic violations. Other guys have done the same thing, guess kind of like the "freedom of information act"

I see...So they were doing something around 61 ish on the A12 (if I hear the tape right) and lost their license for this? From what I gathered they cops had been trying to tag them and kept loosing them. It's an ominous clip...so is that cloud of blue smoke from the Lotus.

it's actually me, my car and my video. When it went to court we requested a copy of the evidence (for our defence)

I got a 6 month ban for careless driving, quite harsh because i had been previously banned for 28 days for speeding. My friend in the 355 got 6 weeks as he had a previously clean license.

The engine was on it's way out (the old supercharged car) and bit the dust shortly after this video. Hence the new engine......

Hi Jon,

Thanks for posting on here. Welcome!

I especially love your defense!

I wish I had enough money to buy your car, it looks very tempting after seeing the video.

Speeding cars left police in their wake
Two City workers left a chasing police car in their wake as took their supercars on a high-speed race through the streets of London, a court has heard.
With one behind the wheel of a Ferrari and the other in a Lotus, they sped around blind bends, roundabouts, a bridge and ran a red light.
But Ferrari driver Brian Hooper, 28, and Lotus owner Jonathon Waring, 21, blamed their speeding on fears the officers' unmarked vehicle was a would-be carjacker.
However, a jury at London's Southwark Crown Court took just under three hours to unanimously convict both of careless driving in August last year.
They were acquitted of driving dangerously. Judge Stephen Robbins adjourned sentencing for a week. The pair, both IT specialists, face fines of up to £2,500 each.
The three-day trial heard Hooper, of east London, and Waring, from Poplar, how the incident began while travelling to Essex.
In evidence Waring insisted a mobile phone call from Hooper alerted him to the possibility that a following black saloon was a carjacker.
He had been the victim of a similar crime before, and it never occurred to him this time it was the police.
Denying the speeds attributed to them by the officers, he argued: "We had to take account of the potential danger we were in."

Hi Jon,
Welcome and thanks for the data. MW thanks for the clip. From what I gathered they got you at 61 mph or so, what was the speed limit?

Wow, never thought any cops could be worst than those we have here.

I can't believe you lost your license for this. It's beyound my comprehension to see so much cool cars coming from UK while you can't even drive them.

If I watched correctly, they picked on you because you had nice cars, that's about it. Sure they had to speed to get to you, your cars accelerate much faster than theirs. But geez, I'm still trying to see the speeding. You even brake for pedestrians! You would get rear ended if you do that here... no kidding.

Anyway, sorry for you.

It seems in the UK, anything much above Disney's 'It's A Small World' speeds are grounds for a police spanking.

That's because I'm in the midst of a download. :D

31% complete and just 2 hrs, 31 min to go!

Damn, it's slow. Almost as slow as the wait for my Elise.

Wow, all I got to say is boring! That was enough to get your license revoked? Damn, harsh!

Those of you that haven't downloaded it yet, don't worry, you're not missing anything.

The first line says it all... one of the cops says "How old can he be?" as the ferrari drives by. They were obviously prejudiced because of your age and cars. Pathetic. You should have gotten a barrister to ream them in court.

I was shocked at much was made of the driving in the tape. I see alot more aggressive driving as just normal driving! How lame. I mean did they even break 80mph. Look at the cars they where in. What the hell is 80mph in them. What restraint :D They drive like girls :)

Naw, restraint is trying to download that video for the last 3 nights! Sheesh!

I must admit that the English police seem quite harsh. And I also have discovered that I don't like roundabouts. They seem to get in the way of straight line speeds. ;) :p
