Where do I find this? I want to shut off the immobilizer. I have the COBRA installation certificate and tried the four digit number at the top right but can't get it to work. Am I doing it wrong or using the wrong number?

Wrong number. The four-digit PI number is on a folding card which has a hole in one corner so that it can be attached to the bundle of keys you presumably received when you picked up the car.

You might be able to get Lotus or Cobra to tell you your PIN given the car's and the alarm's serial numbers. But check to see if you still have that card kicking around first! I didn't realize what it was at first either, but I also didn't throw out anything out came with the car, aside from the paper floor mats and the tag on my shifter that warned me about my airbags.

I have the "Installation Certificate Card" but not the PIN number card mentioned. There is a four digit number at the top of the card I assumed was the PIN. I've looked everywhere for the other piece of paper. I keep everything as well so I surprised I can't find it.

I never received mine either and have asked my sales rep
to ask the Lotus rep (Mike Fisher) for a duplicate. If not the
card, at least the actual number. It seems to take a bit of time
to get it but I'm hoping that now, after two weeks, it will soon
be here. Ask your salesman to contact Mike Fisher asap.. P.S.-
The only thing extra that I received was a black plastic strip
with a bar-code sticker that has the letter D and four numbers
following it. I assume this is for key fob replacement but am not
really sure.

You guys get valet keys so 3 keys total? Or are you just calling the spare a valet key?
3 total.

No valet key - the car is not keyed for that. My car came with three "keys" - two regular keys with the lighted head, and a third "key" that is just the shaft portion of the key, without any head. I believe that it is meant to be used for cutting new keys and/or as a "hide in your wallet" key. But it has the same key pattern as the other two.

I don't know if they are still supplying the third "key"...

Doh! Note to self: Make sure mind is engaged before putting mouth in gear. Tim is correct. It's not even remotely like a valet key.
I was told by the sales rep upon receipt of the car that
it is an 'emergency type key' that, because of its slimness,
can be kept in my wallet in the event I lose my set of keys
and don't have the second set conveniently available.

I know that many folks seem to get worked up over not getting the "keep in your wallet" key, but just get a (thin) spare key cut and put it in your wallet. Get one of these:

Wallet Key Pals

And slip it in. No problems. The Lotus ignition is not one that requires a chip (like other cars) the whole thing was less than $6. In fact, I got one of these "spares" to use as my regular key since it is considerably less bulky (no black plastic head).

Oh, and incidentally... If you jot down the numbers that come with your key set, the locksmith can cut you a key without having one... Should you ever need that.

I usually just get a cheap key cut at WalMart and keep it in my wallet. I once made the mistake of locking my keys in a car while heading to the air port (quick stop along the way), and would have missed the plane because of the time it took to get my car open (but the plane was late, so it worked out).

I haven't done it yet for the Elise, because of the need for the alarm fob. I guess I need to learn the alarm reset code so the spare key would be useful to me...
