Another Hatch Won't open Thread

Hey All,

I finally ran into the common issue of my hatch being stuck while the manual release cable won't open the hatch. At the same time, the car wouldn't start but has enough battery to try the usual steps of a second hand to try varying degrees of pressure on the lid while I try both the manual release and driver side hatch button. I did read something on the other lotus site about needing to access the rear through the wheel well. Has anyone done this before, or any other tips?

Thanks, got one on order. I'll give it a shot before trying to get at the hinges.

Thanks for the follow up, alas not. I tried with the inflatable shims and the emergency pull cable but I suspect that is broken. The battery was totally dead before the shims got here so I'm going to pick up another power source this week and give the fuse box a try.
