I owned an early 2005 Elise from 2016-2023. It was an early car with the dual oil coolers. In December, 2023 an Alfa 4C caught my eye and I sold the Elise. The Alfa was very cool, but at 6’3”, I couldn’t get comfortable with the seating position. So, sold it and just acquired a 2021 Evora GT. I couldn’t be more thrilled! Anyhow, happy to be back and back to this forum.

One question. The Alpine HU seems to be designed by a gang of monkeys throwing the user interface together. In a word, it’s terrible. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to delete the old presets and favorites from the last owner and how to set what I want. I’ve received the manual, but I’m still lost. If anyone has any tips for me, I’d greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Welcome back! Post up some pics of your car when you can. How does the driving experience of the GT compare with the 4C and Elise? Regarding the radio, it took me months to figure out how to operate the HU. And I also DL'd a copy of the manual which seemed to be written by different logic rules than I can understand. For me, I found a tab that comes out of the left side of the screen for the radio preset. You basically have to sweep your finger from the left side of the screen to the right and it will pop out. Don't be surprised if it takes a couple of tries. Then you can just overwrite the current preset with whatever radio station you want by pressing and holding down the associating preset button until you hear a beep.

Note, to make sure you can access the tab function, make sure you on the radio display screen. Typically this occurs when you click any current radio station and the display only shows the radio station details (not the initial display where you can select the radio, NAV, phone inputs, etc).

Thanks! The Elise is obviously more raw and go kart like. But the GT has gobs more power and is super comfortable. It’s funny how some say the Evora is a raw car. Not in my book. The Elise is a raw car. As for the 4C, I never liked the seating position or how hard the turbo hit. I greatly prefer the linear boost of a super charger. Also, at 6’3”, the seating position never worked for me. I did add the Alfa Works suspension blocks to get rid of the tramlining. Gorgeous car though and the CF tub was a sight to behold.

Having had 8 Lotus cars, an Alfa 4c, 2 Zenos and a Rush, I’ve returned to a Lotus Elise SC. It’s street legal and tagged but has quite a bit of track focused mods. It’s great but I agree it’s raw. My fv street/track was an Air Force blue Evora GT. It didn’t need much in the way of mods and while slower at Sebring and Homestead than the Exige V6cup R I had, it was a pure joy to drive on either street or track — so congrats and welcome back!

The Alfa spyder I had was gorgeous and with some mods quite competent on the track — but it’s just not a Lotus! Besides at 6’1 I didn’t fit and couldn’t see the display area that mattered — even with a floor mount cf seat! At this point I’m thinking of an AMG Emira or a 996.2 Porsche with 051 package to have something easier to drive to the track. Here’s my current Elise:
