trying to determine facts about my 2005 elise bordeaux in color. any suggestions on how to find out how many bordeaux elises they made in 05 with navy blue interior. i think this is the only year they produced that color. also would like to see what number off the line this car was, etc. can anyone advise on what the meanng or order of the numbers etc on the vin. Had the car new since about Feb 2006 so fairly new in the production run of the 05's. Also has anyone had any experience or see these going at Barrett-Jackson or Mechum. just curious thanks for the help

This is from my certificate of provenance. In terms of decoding the VIN. SCC is the manufacturer identifier code. SCC = UK manufacturer, Lotus Cars Ltd., the engine type (P=2ZZ-GE), the restraint system (C=dual air bags and active belts), the vehicle type number (111=Elise/Exige), the check digit (x), the model year (5=2005), the assembly plant (H=Hethel), the market the chassis is made for (L=LHD for USA with A/C), the model (3=Elise), and the serial number (0000). The serial number is the number it came off the assembly line but you have to subtract 2 from it to know which order yours came into the US. the first 2 off the line were used for engineering purposes.

If you get the certificate of provenance from Lotus they will tell you what the original paint color was for your car, the paint code, interior trim, options on the car, when it was signed from production, the selling dealer in the US and where the first owner was from. it will also tell you which car yours is in the order of total cars sold in that color, then total cars sold in that color and interior trim, then total cars sold in that color, trim, and factory options.

The certificate of provenance is a pretty cool document to own with your car and I would recommend getting one from Lotus. I got to learn that my 05 was the 1st out of only 10 cars with the same color, trim and options which I think is really cool.
