I'm doing a little remodeling - which colour?

Alright gents, I generally regularly post in Seloc but also wanted your venerable opinions! ;)
So what started as getting the 'small' cracks out of the bodywork has turned into major surgery. The car has been completely stripped down, de seamed and shortly I'll be having the doors off. As such the car can be completely re-painted, whatever colour I choose. So the question is, in a word (or two) which would you pick, bear in mind the climate here is a bit grey and I'm this car is my only daily driver:

Starlight Black (Lotus Colour)
Clicky for example
Chrome Orange (Lotus Colour)
Clicky for example
Bianco Fuji (Maserati/Fezza)
Clicky for example
Lambo Yellow
Clicky for example

or perhaps red??

Finally, maybe a really unusual hot hues paint imported from the US? Not a chav one mind!... I'm just wondering if it's worth doing something different to show the efforts that's gone into the car. Anyone any thoughts?

Oh and below, where my car is at in my garden! ;)

Thanks for your thoughts
Cillian.

Thanks for the welcome Larry... hehe I'm sensing slight favouritism there?
You're right though, a cracking colour... just want to make sure it wins the poll, ultimately this poll combined with a similar one on the Seloc forum will decide the colour of the car... I really can't decide between them all!

LOL what about a hypercolor car. Changes colors based on your mood/temp outside.

Cheers Greg, when you change colour are you referring to the traditional 'flip' paints. I wouldn't be a huge fan, but if there are temperature controlled paints. i.e. change complete car colour based on weather I could be interested in that alright! ;) I do remember something similar with kids toy cars, but no on the real deal

Never heard of the like on a car myself... I'd be interested in hearing more :D

How bold a color can you tolerate?

Lamborghini has a very nice tangerine orange. A little redder than Lotus' Chrome Orange, it'll stand out as different as Lotus gatherings.

Me, I see the bright paint as a safety feature. :)

@Moto44 - Lambo Yellow is a great choice, just trying to decide if it's the way to go of all colours!

@kBob - Thanks for your input, I can tolerate pretty bold colours... whether or not passers by tolerate it is the questions. Perhaps as a safety feature it is the way to go, all the repairs are due to it being shunted while parked about 5 times.

@Machine - Ye, I've always loved black myself, but worried it's a bit standard after all the work that's gone in to the car, although I suppose secretly it's been a favourite, it certainly wouldn't be special.

@mrluky - With you on the bright colours, although green is probably a bit much to be honest. The white does hold an allure although here in Ireland certainly white wouldn't be associated with particularly nice cars. It's either found on the worst of cars or the highest end, so no middle ground... not really sure!!

Keep the thoughts coming in though, a majority will eventually decide this! ;)

what about chili red?? its kinda different. as far as black goes, go phantom black, looks much nicer than starlight imo!

edit- BMW had a color called laguna seca blue which might be kinda interesting too if you're looking for something different

I saw that color on a Lambo recently (indoors at the Denver Auto Show) and it looked beautiful. Not too bright (particularly in a cloudy climate) and lots of depth. Lambo yellow would be another great choice. Good luck with the painting!

Thanks guys for all the thoughts... haven't time to examine them all in detail yet, but I will! :)

@Kaz - Pesky's car is indeed an amazing colour I have to say!

Just out of curiosity what's the general concensus on Alan (Serebos) Matte Black Elise?
That's something that does appeal to me, although I'd be seriously considered about it marking.
Alan, any chance of you posting current photos (possibly one with where a hand/finger has touched it?) of it and explaining how you keep it clean or what your experience of it has been so far?

Keep the choices rolling, I'm keen to get a majority here before I make a decision!
Cheers,

Cillian

Hello Cillian -

I'll get some pictures posted as soon as I can - give me a day or so. As fr as keeping it clean and resisting prints, it does it extremely well, due the mixture and application process SCC used. I recommend giving Steve a call over there and discuss it with him. 310 880-5815. Unfortunately, some drunk idiot threw some type of extremely viscous fluid on the car last week while I was driving at night. The "stuff" coated the windscreen so badly I could barely see to pull into a gas station where it took me about a half hour just to get the glass clean enough to get to a coin operated car wash nd pressure spray off as much as possible. SCC is determining if I need a new paint job, This has nothing to do with the finish, but more with the type of fluid they threw on the car. It's not noticable unless you look at the correct angle...

One thing you should be aware of - you cannot put a clear bra over the matte black paint without turning it glossy. Expect a pretty fair pelting within a few months.

hey Cillian

i'm a starlight black owner and love the colour. there is a member on this board who painted the twin stripes with a grey, storm titatium i think. strong combo. something to consider with the blacks, the less is more aspect is a quietly confident statement.

but then Kaz's airplane grey with yellow stripes is simply amazing. as is the other car he posted that's 'pesky's' ... awesome.

go with your gut and you'll be fine.
