Well, this sucks. Over the weekend my car decided to touch 9,000 rpm (not sure how that could have happened…). I’ll be documenting everything here as I go. Right now, I’m in the process of pulling the blower to inspect the forward facing valve cover before pulling the engine.
I’m not entirely sure what direction I’ll take yet. For context, the car was running Komo-tec’s 475 tune, and judging by the plugs, it wasn’t happy during the 3k miles I had it on - lots of detonation marks. Always filled up with Shell 93, and while it never felt that bad while driving, clearly something wasnt 100 percent.
So far, inside the rear-facing rocker cover has no broken pieces. I was expecting to see broken springs, but maybe I’ll find something when I pull the forward cover. Unfortunately, all the cylinder walls are scored. The engine still turns over, but it’ll backfire if you try to start it.
At this point, I don’t really have a set end goal. Maybe I’ll go for a mild rebuild with a ported blower and hope the trans is still healthy or swap something stupid into it... haha
curious to hear what you guys would do in my situation.
