Aerie Performance - V2 Wheels Don't Do it

Exactly 3 months ago I ordered a set of champagne Gold wheels from Aerie, paid the additional $270 for express shipping, which stated 3-7 days shipping. The wheels arrived in their warehouse for shipping August 5th, they didn't arrive to me till the 26th. Tracking showed they wern't actually shipped till the week before they arrived with me. Not too big of a deal I guess, I expected a long wait, I just wouldve requested the additional fee for express shipping returned.

This is when it gets interesting, the wheels arrived in what I beleive to be very clearly the wrong colour. Gold and not champagne gold.

Sample Colour for Champagne Gold:

I contacted them straight away and got a pretty prompt initial response saying theyll contact the factory and get back to me. When they get back to me they tell me its the correct colour and ask me for more photos. There was some more back and forth, with responses gradually taking longer, multiple days if not over a week between them, including them sending me a completely different wheel style stating this is what champagne gold looks like.

I then send a reference car with wheels in champagne gold and they come back with a photo of the same car but clearly heavily edited stating look heres a different angle and they're the same colour as yours, while also offering me a $200 refund.

Its now been 2 weeks since they sent the edited photo to me and Ive gotten zero reply and I'm losing hope that I'll get anything back and will just have to suck it up and mount the gold wheels or get them powdercoated in the colour I want.

I really wanted to trust them and overlook the bad reviews for the few good ones out there but unfortunately now I'm adding to the bad reviews and wishing I ordered a set from GRP.

Hmmm … did you buy them via your credit card? Try getting the card involved and telling them you are unhappy, period, and want to return? You might end up paying a re-stocking fee.

Good luck!!!
Unfortunately they weren't paid for through a credit card, if it was I would've gone down this route!

That stinks, terrible customer service. In saying that, I think the gold looks SUPERB and would look great on something like my Motorsports Black Evora 400.

I would probably take the 200 bucks and put it towards getting them re-done in the color of your choice and not give yourself a heart attack dealing with the Aerie fools.
I agree it is a lovely colour and the quality does seem great, however I wanted a more subtle colour for my racing green Evora 400. Yeah I have already got some samples from a powdercoater that seems suitable, pricing is around $150 per wheel

If you don't mind how did you pay? PP offers protection and then if CC is linked you have two layers of protection?

Personally after the exhaust incident, the ridiculous wheel design for four lug and now this I would stay far far away from them.

Aerie only reimbursed me the cost of the muffler and NOT the damage their defective exhaust caused. This was contingent on the deletion of my FB post calling them out. It also took 21 business days for them to send the funds.

Imagine them photoshopping this and saying it's just fine. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Honestly, I'd sell the wheels. I wouldn't want their product on my car.

I understand that we have to support the small amount of vendors for our cars but the number of issues occurring with Aerie is beginning to outweigh the benefits. There's a noted lack of transparency, lack of build quality, deceptive advertising, and most importantly, a lack of respect for the customers.
@bboixtc had structural damage to his car due to their faulty titanium exhaust blowing up, @jalquiza had shrapnel damage to his heat shield from the muffler blowing up, and I believe Bboi discovered 4 others experienced their titanium exhaust failing in the same way.... all that to say, I PRAY their wheels have better build quality.
Also: Gaslighting you with an edited photo when you have them in front of your eyes and trying to smooth it over with a 7% discount is CRAZY. This **** would never fly with Greg, Hethelsport, or Inokinetic. I really hope you're able to recoup your costs.
Last thing: If you get the tires off to either send them back or paint them, please weigh the wheels. I have a hard time believing they weigh 88 lbs total

Agree, but that business model isnt as uncommon as you think. Unless you are a big company like Rays or BBS, not that many have their own manufacturing facilities, most companies outsource manufacturing. Where Aerie falls short is quality control and customer service.

I just ordered a set of custom built wheels, it may very well come off the same production line as Aerie, I'm ok with that, but this company has a reputation for good customer service. iForged back in the early 2000's made custom forged wheels popular, a bunch of similar companies popped up and closed since then. Quality of all these wheels are the same, quality control and customer service makes or breaks a company.

Sorry you are going through that (wheels) but on the bright side they are beautiful wheels!! They look a lot like the BBS Fi-R wheels. I have a set of those on one of my cars. I was looking for the same finish you want but got talked into "motorsports gold" which looks a lot like the wheels you received. I love them now.

First world problems... :)
