really??? so its the same color but one is has a gloss finish? are both colors available every year?

Saffron Yellow is back

 

really? by popular demand? I didn't know that many people liked it. personally i wouldnt miss it.

 

I don't know why. Lotus does some funny things. To be honest, I wish a lot of the colors they killed would have stayed such as Polar Blue, Aubergine Purple, Autumn Gold, Canyon Red, etc. (I know there's more)


I guess they needed another base color? Green isn't exactly the most appealing to ALL buyers Yellow and Red are

 

Like it or not, non-metallic yellow is a classic color for Lotus, and should be an option for that reason. Same for BRG, and AR. I think they've gone overboard on the "radioactive" colors, as neat as some of them are, and should give the purists (aka old men) a few more choices.

 

Norfolk Mustard is the 'proper' yellow on a Lotus!

 

nobody has pics? I think i remember someone with a solar yellow elise with a saffron hard top once... or vice versa

I had a Solar Yellow hardtop on my Saffron Yellow Elise until I repainted it Saffron Yellow. It looked like a perfect match until you walked up to it and saw the flake in the Solar Yellow.

The mix directions for Solar Yellow start out with Saffron Yellow as a base and the flake is added to it. Solar Yellow is essentially Saffron Yellow with flake.

 

In all but direct sunlight, it is very difficult to see the metal flake in the Solar Yellow. The metal flake is very fine and quite subtle.

According to wallabyguy, Saffron was only brought back as an option in '08 overseas, not available in the states. Solar's still the only one here.

To my eye, the only time they really look different from 20 ft is in bright sunlight, in which case the flake in the solar make the yellow appear a lighter shade. Saffron's my favorite color, but after seeing more solar in person, the flake is subtle enough they're both fabulous to my eye!
