Hey guys, I am getting ready to have my 05 Elise painted KG from SY. At the same time I am thinking about making some modifications. What do you think about painting the rear panel that is normally black green to match the car?
also going to flush mount the small turn light on the front fenders,. Do I paint the front splitter to match the car or black.
Also going to have the wheels powder coated. What color, black or green?
Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

Search for threads on my mods - I'm too lazy too look them up.

I did:

- Shave License Plinth
- Fill Seams on front and rear clam
- Exige style mesh vents installed on 'hinge panels'
- Mesh replaces plastic black 'strakes'

And most of all:

- Rear Clam - have the rear 'strakes' on either side of the taillights removed/patched. They serve zero purpose and look horrible.

Makes a huge difference

For a smoother suspension:

I had KWv3's on my last car and they weren't bad, I have NO clue what they're like on the lotus but KW makes decent stuff and the price is right compared to a $4000 set of ohlins or nitrons, and I'd be surprised if they didn't ride at least a little bit better than the bilsteins.

the lotus sport double adjustable ohlins have made my car much more comfortable. The springs are stiffer so you'll keep your chin off the ground better but becuase they're rebound and compression damping adjustable, you can get a better ride out of them... they're $2500 new I thinkbut can be found used for less. I would recommend getting the lotus elise cup car version, not the Exige 240r or Exige Cup 260 becuase those spring rates are just to darned high for a street car i think. Another biggie and way cheaper for improving ride is going with a 15"/16" wheel set from the stock 16"/17"... plus tires are cheaper and you're less likely to bend a rim.

I personally prefer the slats to the mesh.

Couldn't agree more about deleting the obviously fake 'vents' next to the taillights.
If you're having fiberglass work done, consider filling in the turn signal housings. The lights can be relocated into the regular headlight housings.
