Mixing Medium/Hard and LTS Compounds with A048

Tire Rack doesn't have the LTS front tires for A048.

Do I order MH for the front, and LTS for the rear.

Or do I order MH all around?

This is for HPDE.

I don't mind a little understeer if that's a concern.

Are you sure? I just ordered my A048s recently from tire rack. The site for whatever reason wasn't listing them at the time, so I just called them directly and they were in stock. This was about a week ago.

Because the MH seems easier to find, I have been forced to mix/match before, and I'm now running MH all around just because that's how it's worked out based on wear and availability.

I agree with others that the differences are subtle. My recollection is that with OE on the front and MH on the rear I had to play with tire pressures a little to get things to balance like I like it.

Of course that assumes I am really feeling a difference, and it's not really all in my head.

I was talking to the Yokohama rep at Road Atlanta this weekend about the differences between the LTS vs other A048. Not only are the belt materials different, the construction angle is different as well. They had a Lotus and engineered the LTS tires specifically for our cars. Yokohama has a hotline number specifically for Lotus owners and should be able to get the LTS tires to owners even if retailers are out? I don't have the hotline number but it may be worth calling their website listed number 1-800-722-9888 (option #2) to obtain.

I'm running LTS on the front, and MH 245's on the rear. I believe that when hot, the setup dials out understeer a bit and the car feels great.
