My “New” 2009 Lotus Elise SC Finally Arrived

After an other-car drama, closed interstates, and 3,000+ miles, my 1 of 1 Ice White 2009 Lotus Elise SC arrived yesterday. I am so happy with my choice of car.

My previous contender, a Porsche Boxster S/GTS would have made me less disappointed in the local roads when taking longer trips or planning around deep dips and steep speed bumps. Measuring in smiles (mine and others) and joy, I made a wise choice.

I am looking forward to putting some miles on it (just over 31k now) and a road trip to visit family and their local cars and coffee (they have a Viper ACR and an F-Type R). Pictures to come.

Congrats and a quick question if you will. Trying to learn more about Elise SCs, even though I own one! :geek:
What does your door sticker say your front tire size should be? Also, what color is your front sway bar? (Assuming it's stock)
Thanks and what a great looking car!!

I believe the front tire is dependent on whether the Sport Package was optioned or not, and was not dependent on the car having a factory-optioned SC or not.

AFAIK, the standard width front tires on Elises (at least through 2011MY) was 175, while the Sport Package came with 195 fronts.

So, missed the pictures provided by @TNEngineer on his Elise SC thread. I also had asked for pictures from @arcti{SC}ilver at one point that I'm not sure if I ever saw.

So looking over your old BAT ad, and your recent pics, I am convinced that car did not have the Track Pack. (Actually good news as the Track Pack sucked) That is the stock front bar. What I cannot determine is if you have the base suspension or sport. My gut feeling is the sport. If you could take a pic of the numbers printed on the springs, we could determine for sure. The shocks might tell too, but as you will want to likely change those, no matter.
The BWR S/T bar I mentioned earlier will likely be your best change.

Winter time is the best time to get this stuff done... :D
As promised... stock (and since upgraded) on a 2011 Elise SC.

The pics provided by @TNEngineer show his Elise SC came with the base/softer springs/shock assy.

You may have to click to see his pics, BUT, to compare , LSS springs would be black also, and f A122-C-0008 and r A122-D-0006H if you want compare.

So @SLO_Scout , it would be good if you could pull a wheel or two and see if you have the base or LSS springs.
Not to be confused with a Track Pak suspension as OEM on my Type 25 below, easily spotted by the yellow sway bar and red springs. (All OEM of course..? 😬)

As you noted your CoP indicates the Sport Pak, it would nice to know which springs were fit to it.

Decided to get a close up of my Type 25 CoP... it appears it was a suspension upgrade in addition to color combo, etc.

I had assumed all Elise SCs had that as standard, but I guess not. Yay me 🤓 ? Lol

Yep, all of this pretty conclusively confirms that even the SC's had some variations. Maybe the only SC-specific thing is the baby wing. Adds nothing in real aero, but my wife thinks it's cute so it's a win in our family.

@SLO_Scout Thanks for clearing up a mystery!! So your Sport Pack has the LSS shocks.. I like knowing all 3 were available. I don't see any need to measure the front bar. To my understanding there were only two types. The black, non-adjustable, or the yellow adjustable on the Track Pack.

A Lotus Mystery cleared up!!

So, seems like, on Elise SCs:
175 fronts = base suspension.
195 = LSS/Sport OR Track Pack suspension
My sticker, with the LSS sport suspension, says I should have 175 tires on the front. I am curious who at Lotus was in charge of the tire stickers, and what was in his coffee thermos.

Hmmm, I had forgot you have the 175 front sticker!
I think I will modify my above conclusion.. (pending finding out we had a heavy drinking "sticker affixer" at the factory)

Ok, NOW a Lotus mystery cleared up!!

Base suspension = 175 fronts
Track Pack suspension = 195 fronts
LSS/Sport Pack = 175 OR 195 fronts??
