Hi, I changed the battery in my key fob just now and now I can't get my 2005 lotus to re-sync. I was planning a weekend getaway tomorrow morning so I need help quick! ...before anybody posts a link to the following thread, I have read it, tried it, but still no luck...

Specifically, these steps are not working for me:

REMOTE KEY FOB - RESYNCHRONIZATION - USE WHEN EXISTING REMOTE CEASES TO WORK 1) Remove battery & wait 10 seconds before re-installing (re-sync can fail if this step is missed)
2) Hold down both buttons (remote fob LED will light) for approx. 10 seconds until LED turns off. 3) Release both buttons and LED will turn on constantly. 4) Press large button for one second, LED will flash...re-sync. complete

I have changed the keyfob battery before with no problem, now I just need to re-sync it. I don't have the code either.... :(

p.s. I know the key fob is not bad, because it was working perfectly before I took the battery out today to replace it. Is it possible that I pressed some kind of awkward combination of buttons on the key fob and now instead of needing a simple re-sync, I may need the PIN for a full re-program?

Just about any electronic procedure (resetting the guages, re-syncing the keys, etc) takes many attempts for them to "take". Wait till you are adding a second keyfob and trying to set up two fobs at once, after 30 attempts I gave up (one would sync, or the other would sync, but both would not sync at the same time). I finally settle for one working fob, my neighbors were getting tired of hearing my alarm go off.

I did this exact thing this last Monday. worked perfectly the second try. (was confused by the poor English translation)

get your 4-digit pin from the lotus dealer. call them, give them your vin and whatever it takes - you will need the 4-digit pin.

once you have your pin (lets say, 2345 = pin)

Step 1) hold both buttons for 10 seconds until the fob stops flashing. on release of the buttons, the light should stay on.

Step 2) turn the ignition on and off 3 times within 7 seconds (don't start the engine, just turn the key so everything lights up, then turn it off x3) Once done (turned off the 3rd time), the tachometer light on the dash will light for 3 seconds. wait for this light to go off.

Step 3) Immediately after the 3 seconds of light (the moment it turns off), turn the ignition on. wait for the appropriate number of flashes, then turn the ignition off. repeat for all 4 digits.

(the tachometer light will flash. each flash represents a number. it will go slowly so you can accurately time the pin.) 1 flash = 1. 2 flashes =2,etc

for a pin of 2345, you...
turn the ignition on, wait 2 flashes, turn off.
turn the ignition on, wait 3 flashes, turn off.
turn the ignition on, wait 4 flashes, turn off.
turn the ignition on, wait 5 flashes, turn off.

you are done.

The pin for my car was, ****.

Hope this helps! ;-)

I had the same problem you did - but it's much more simple than that (or was for me).

Do not remove the battery with a metal object, use a wooden toothpick if you can. Remove the battery and wait a good 20-30 minutes. Insert battery again, and it should work. I spoke with SirLouts about this, and we determined that it needed to wait that long for the board to truly reset.

I would try that first before fiddling with your PIN at all.

Thank you so much! This worked on my second try. You saved me a tow and a $690 dealer diagnostic fee!
