SPORT or TOURING?

The superior dampers on the Emira make the Sport suspension feel like an S1 Evora suspension. This may be one of the biggest upgrades on the car. I was shocked at the ride quality in touring mode. In sport mode, it is a more proper sporty car. Don't let that sway you. The only thing I would strongly consider is the tires. If you have NO intentions of seeing a track in the car, the Cup2s are a TOTAL waste of $$ and will be inferior in wet conditions and frankly, below 55 degrees. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You get out in 50 degree weather on a rainy day in the Cup2's you'll quickly find their limits. Besides on the street, 9/10 people never even get enough heat in them to outgrip a street tire. FACT!!!
I have been tracking Lotus for almost 20yrs and will only run a DoTr etc to and from the track. They suck on the street unless its 80 + out

Interesting to hear that sport is not harsh. All the UK reviews on youtube said sport is quite harsh. Maybe they made revisions for US?
Most drivers are weiners these days used to driving 4000-5000lb bricks
realize many of us Lotus types loved the elise suspension hehe:whistle:

If the car is purely for street driving joy, touring mode has more chops than 98% of drivers will ever experience. I bought a GTS INSTEAD OF GTS MC because I wanted that more supple ride for long trips. Sport mode in a GTS gets old quick!
JMAC, my suspicion is in the long run, esp if your are getting a few aches etc, be patient and get a touring package. It will be even more of a dream car, esp if a significant other prefers to be cuddled a bit more.

Aren't wives a hassle?................

Thanks to everyone for your input (I love this group - so incredibly helpful!). I decided to pass on the Emira with the Sport suspension. It was a VERY difficult decision, especially because I'm not likely to find another with the FE 1 pricing. I will return to my search for the perfect Evora (for me)! Again, I appreciate everyone sharing their thoughts on this - it really did help.
Patience will be rewarded!!!

Well said. Unless you intend to see a track with the car, there is ZERO reason to own a sport pack on this car. Unless you need to relive the past with old stiffly sprung nasty sports cars, the compliance of the Lotus suspension , even in touring will drive circles around 95+% of the cars built today. Then there is that sport button..............still
I am the other end of the equation, I specifically will make this my track car eventually and it will do 100+ days over its lifetime....on track
A huge misunderstood issue is the tire choice. PS2s as a street tire is pretty stupid unless you live where it is never goes below 80 degrees and is dry...................
My goal is to buy a sport pack with street tires. I will buy my own wheels and rubber for track...and they won't be Michelins. Think F1SC3r

The touring gives you more help requiring less skill sir. It is the SINGLE biggest mistake I have experienced in teaching my students. Stiffer, quicker shifts etc DO NOT make you faster as a novice or even intermediate/advanced. 99/100 times I start my students, bone stock, softest, easiest tranny full auto etc to teack them about C, whjat it's yteaching them etc. As skills progress, you engage TC far less often because you get smoother. Touring suspension IS smoother.
Compliance and feel DO HELP. I did not remotely think the car became unsettled over bumps btw. Actually that is why I said the new dampers are a HUGE upgrade.
If I do indeed buy an Emira in Sport suspension, I can promise you I will spend 75% of my street time in touring mode....at least.

Some people like stiff, some like soft. I have always preferred communication and compliance. I have experienced overly stiff setups. Sucks the joy out of the car quickly. Stiff can make you think you are fast when you really aren't......happens ALL the time with novice students...my classic was a great guy with his Guilia Quad.. improved 5 seconds/lap when I made him go to D mode, soft shocks...he started to FEEL things. Made him much smoother with inputs. It's very hard for some people to check their ego at the door.
Currently, I have 2 Evora. My 11S has become a track toy. Definitive sport with serious alignment etc Sure, I am fine with it as a daily after 20yrs of track time but I prefer my wife's 13NA IPS on street because it's such a joy and damn Solar Yellow is BEAUTIFUL. The 13 is effortless precision. Food for thought. Look at the number of seriously experienced folks buying touring for street use...what is it these folks have learned?

There is no wrong answer but listen to Brain f18...he gets it!!!

BTW, it already exists. It's the GT4!

Excessively stiff is old school. Its how you set up a flexible chassis. Back in the day, those flexible chassis gave compliance to contact patch. With much stiffer chassis, more compliance is quicker. Stiffness should be proportional to speed IMHO. Overly stiff gets old real fast in most cars. Been there, sold that.

You want trulu unfalappable, try a set of Goodyear Eagle Supercar 3r's......The Cup2 give some hero laps, the 3Rs rip the cape off!!!

Don't all sticky tires when they get hot?
