Hey guys, I made a post a few months ago about battery issues. The current battery has no draw and is still holding a charge. Took it to a shop and was told the alternator was bad and is not charging the battery. The cost was estimated at $2500 for just the part. Does this sound right for a replacement alternator?

Lotus oem alternator is expensive get the toyota part for under 300 and it's one hour labor. Oem alt is about 2K Ask them to use Toyota part or find another shop

1 hour labor? Cmon, even with the right tool getting the belt alone R&R is more then an hour, and you have to change the pully from the OEM alternator onto the Toyota, its easily 3-5 hours.

That was pulled from Evora Labour Rate manual

Yeah but he asked what a shop would charge, not what lotus would pay for warranty. I start at minimum 2x what that book says except for the engine pulling, it's pretty fair there for some reason.

Yeah that why I hated warranty work. We used a flat rate manual instead that was fair for customer and shop. It wasn't quite 2x but was gravy work compared to warranty work. Manufacturers labor rate is doable if that's all you do day in and day out but a mechanic and sop can't survive like that.
