Hi

Am evaluating purchase of a used 190R in the United States. I am unfamiliar with the Rover engine -- and particularly the reliaibility of the VHPD 190hp derivative.

Is this a good choice for a US buyer, and any experience with this car/engine combination would be appreciated???

Thanks - Jon

The motor is pretty good. There can be issues with it as with all motors.

The big issue with the motor here is that no one has worked on one (or an Elise for that matter) so unless you are good with a wrench you will need to find a good mechanic to help out with stuff.

I'm not sure what all you are looking for with this post. Any more specifics?

BTW - it's a 190S, not 190R.

I was initially trying to find out if the extreme tuning of this model had led to any known problems.

Since my post I've found that -- although I can get it registered -- I cannot insure it for the street. (thanks Feds!!)

Although the street use is minor -- it is still important -- I'm tired of hauling a trailer every time I want to move the car.

Sooo -- I'm just going to wait for the US version -- and then modify it for some serious track time.

Thanks for the response.
