I literally couldn't find anything on this other than on Edelbrock site when asked about servicing the oil it was stated that it should be checked every 100K miles and the SC must be removed to do so. How many miles on yours? Edelbrock.com: Edelbrock Product Frequently Asked Questions

7k on mine, but have seen where one on a 400 has failed, and several series 1s had low oil in them from the factory. But wow, I guess I will not be checking it. Thanks for the info!

There was a bad batch initially that were covered under warranty. The symptom was oil mist in engine bay.

The problem was the seal at the nose of the unit, resulting from improper installation of the seal at the factory (Edelbrock's factory, not Lotus). If the seal fails, oil sprays out under pressure as a fine mist which if undiscovered eventually results in seizure of the supercharger. The cure is of course replacement of the entire unit.

There were a vanishingly few reported incidents but although dramatic, it was not a widespread problem and generally exhibited itself soon after delivery on early, and then only on a limited run of '17 builds. Most cars never had an issue. Replacement of the supercharger was the solution. I doubt there are cars that have been driven for any reasonable period of time that still have the problem since the seal failed very quickly once the car was put in service. I am only aware of three or four such events but obviously I only know about those who reported the issue here or on the UK forum.

I recall one owner who continued to drive the car not realizing the supercharger was spewing its lubricant all over the rear of the car. That car suffered catastrophic failure when the supercharger finally ran dry but I'm not aware of any other owners who drove their car to the point of complete failure. Most discovered the problem before total loss of lubrication to the unit. Replacement of the faulty blowers was a 100% cure and the issue has not reared it head since to my knowledge.
