The lever to open the front access hatch is made by jaguar if you're a should ever break.

Btw, if yours breaks, before ordering a new one, looks like you can use the second position next to the one that is used. It's held in by two 8MM nuts/bolts

My Evora had broken handle and cable when I bought it . . . First, I just replaced the cable and tried to use the other position as described, however, the cable kept popping out. I ended up replacing the handle anyways.

It's time for me to proudly cement my legacy on Lotus Talk and provide the ultimate alternative to a Lotus part that will be passed down from father to son (or daughter) for generations to come... Or least until 2035 when we'll all be riding in people sized Roombas for the road.

Brace yourselves...

As a direct alternate to having to purchase any generation Evora's front tow hook, you can instead choose to order the likely just as difficult if not harder to obtain tow hook from a 2015+ Ford Focus RS. I know, I know... But please stay calm and hold your praise for a moment as it's important to note that the tow hooks from every other Focus model will not work, only the specific tow hook from the RS model is a direct swap due to being the only LH thread type. Even the overall length is right about at dead nuts to the Evora's.

I'm also seeing references on teh Int3rw3bz, y0, of compatibility with the Ford Mondeo, donor of half the rest of the little bits for our cars, and a possible compatability with the 1996-2019 Mustang. Surely someone here has both an Evora and a Mustang (you know, for the wife and kids) and can check.

Are you saying this:
$25 tow hook fits?
No.

That’s just another one of the many cheap all aluminum Chinese versions that are questionable to pull an electric Barbie PowerWheels Jeep, much less your Evora.

There are a few legit versions of a well constructed D ring tow hook out there made with the proper materials and tensile/yield strengths befitting of the tow hooks main purpose.

Unlike the Christmas tree ornament versions, these real tow hooks are usually pretty pricey for what they are. I believe the OEM version is around $100 or so, whereas many of these can run in $200 range depending on brand. But you can find good ones in the $125-$150 range as well depending on the modding popularity of the platform it’s for. For example the R35 GTR has a completely unnecessary number of options to choose from.

I chose the ZL1 add-ons premium version D ring tow hook for the Focus RS. They make quality stuff at very reasonable prices.

looks fairly well made from steel, not a Christmas tree ornament. The construction looks identical to the actual Ford part.
Yeah, that first pic looks like it and to be correct overall length, and assuming it's correct thread size/pitch and LH threads, and also assuming it's metal composition doesn't originate from melted old shopping cart baskets, and also that its not riddled with porosity from a low pressure cast mold, and also that those 2 fillet welds holding on the eye are worth a damn with adequate amount of filler material and no lack of fusion/penetration or cracks etc., and also that the black oxide coating is worth a damn and has at least some form of added post treatment.

But, I mean outside of those few minor details you should be good to go. That stack of nine one dollar bills will go a long way in providing some peace of mind when your flatbed guy is winching your Evora up the ramp with only that little stick from Alibaba separating your car from the forces of gravity.

Oh, I have the OEM one in my boot for just such an occasion. Near as I can tell, thread is correct, and it looks identical to the Ford part, which probably comes from the same factory in China.

Bigger problem: Tow truck driver refuses to use it because the last time he towed a honduh with one, it snapped off and made big problems for him. When my Elise was totaled by the f'in kid in the Jeep, the flat bed guys showed up. I took the tow hook out of the boot, installed it and pointed to it and told them to use it. They really didn't want to. As I was now talking on the phone with one hand and holding direct pressure on my large scalp wound with my dress shirt, I told them again that hooking onto the A arms would break something and to use the tow hook, that's what it was for. They reluctantly used it to pull the car up on the bed. My wife showed up and off we went to a hospital to get 10 staples. I could have done a better job with a mirror, sewing needle and fishing line, but that's another story. A day or two later, I go look at the car at the body shop and my splitter was now broken into several pieces. It was fine before the wreck. When the tow truck drivers dropped it off with me not there (trying to get my scalp sewed up,) they put the hooks on the suspension.

Regarding serpentine belt on 2011-2014 Evora Supercharged:

The factory B132E6500H belt I just received is a 7PK2846 (Toyota/Bando 90916-02700, which I can't find listed anywhere).. the Gates K071130 that MWR/people have been suggesting is a 7PK2871. That's 2.5 centimeters longer than the factory belt. Seems like a lot to ask of the tensioner to take up as the belt heats up, ages and stretches.

Seeing as how Lotus is only charging $45 for this belt retail now, and that Gates is $29 on rockauto plus shipping... conclusion seems pretty obvious.

Also for anyone who doesn't know, the 400/410/GT belt C132E6533F is a gatorback style belt that Lotus is adamant we put on people's cars here. Cost is an even more reasonable $38. (it's a 7PK2958 for the curious)

I don't remember off the top of my head what size they are, but something is making me think 8mm. Maybe measure one that you are replacing.

If so, search ebay for 8mm push pins or screwable rivets. They have different styles for roughly $10 per 50-100.
