Personally, I found that CO looked very nice, but SY looked much better.

Plus, the $1200 color savings practically paid for the hard top, which gives the car a sharp look for the winter months.

 

I just picked up my Elise Tuesday (1/4) and Fox Valley Motors was offering the new extended warranty as well.

Mine was a bit different, although they didn't have all the details and said that they would send the whole package to me this week - so John_Mc's info may be right. FVM told me the extended warranty went to 5 years or 60k miles - and the price was $995. Couldn't pass it up...

 

I saw your car there, I went by to pick up some touch up paint and saw the car outside. In fact I saw you getting the delivery intro by the sales person. Damn I should have said hi, but I was rushing around at that time.

another $1k? It's a good deal, no? Especially with this car. But this is getting crazy. I've started with a 40k car and now I'm at 48k getting this will be 49k. All these ticky-tack options are starting to add up and bite me in the ass. I pray to god they don't increase the price before I get my car.

2) The extended warranty... it's a Lotus for god's sake!!! Stuff's going to break - it's inevitable. I'm sure that one will pay for itself as well...

Have you ever seen the 'book of pages' Porsche gives you to go over 'extras'? It isn't hard to get up into over $10,000.

Extended warranties frequently pay for themselves unless you have to travel a considerable way to get to the dealer. I'd personally have to sacrifice half a day for a service visit - the dealer's way over in Maryland with heavy traffic between here and there.

I'll try to remember to when I'm there on Saturday. You could always call Bill R. at 860-274-8846, except on Fridays. That's the day he's off.

Scotty: Valenti is offering the extended warranty (bringing it up to 5 yrs - 60,000 miles) for $1,400. I did note on the www.gglotus.org site that many, but possibly not all, dealers are using Fidelity Warranty. Fidelity states that Elise buyers can purchase Fidelity's service contract at time of sale ot anytime while under factory warranty.
I believe Valenti is using Fidelity but you can check with Bill R. to confirm.

Ask your friend if there is any kind of a deductible you would have to pay upon your bringing the car to Valenti? Other than that, there should be no problem getting the warranty company to honor the prices charged by Valenti. Just to be safe, see what the maximum hourly rate for labor the warranty allows and if Valenti's hourly rate is within its limits.

 

I've never worked with Fidelity before, but with other cars, you can buy the ext warranty from ANY dealership. It does have to be a dealership with a service center, and not just a paper office.

In fact, there are usually one or two dealerships that make extended warranties a major product, and sell them for below MSRP to make it up in volume.

Everyone buys their Prius factory warranty from some dealer in SC who sells it for $700 off the MSRP price of $1650. The Honda Odyssey was the same way -- one person in some Florida finance department selling factory warranties over the internet at a significant discount.

It's a cool deal, because dealerships usually mark up the hell out of extended warranties, and it's nothing but a small bit of paperwork.

Sooo yeah, if there's some place that wants to sell Lotus factory extended warranties at a discount, I don't care what state they're in -- I'd still take it to the same service centers here that do warranty service.

 

when is the latest you can buy the extended warranty. I'm not going to buy it when I get my car. $1500 is too much right now, after the $2k increase.
