Could be an amazing opportunity for DIY or a money pit. For a while there was a couple of "rebuilt" v8s in the UK in the $10K range. If you could get the car for 20 or 25 that might be a good way to go. Not sure how trust worthy those motors were - might be hard to get commfortable that the motors were built correctly.
If I won the lotto I would send the car to Mike Sekinger in Germany and have him fix it!
