Also I wanted to add that with the Stage 1 version you do get a teensy bit of "performance" tweaking. My air/fuel ratio wasn't quite right with the map that Phil sent me so I adjusted the Fuel Injector Scaling from 550cc to 530 and currently on 510. The fuel richened up at higher throttle and RPM, but idle is still Fastworks Smooth™ and no check engine light or anything.

It is a very course adjustment and doesn't help timing any, but it is something you don't get with any one else.

What I would love to see for us NA guys is for Phil to offer some staged performance kits centered around his tunes. For instance start with Stage I, the BOE Silent touch, ITG intake and tune, then Stage II, add 2bular header and decat/sport cat, retune, next Piper cams and bigger throttle body and retune. Finally BOE 300/400. These would be proven on the dyno, leaving out the guesswork of picking the right products and tuning correctly.

Good plan. I just haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I like to NA. We have done those tunes, I call Torque200, on a limited basis. They work VERY nicely! Since not on website, it has helped manage my workload for now  I have added a lot more map depth and granularity to the NA tunes than what Lotus and the others have, which will make them much more friendly to headers, and the like:up:

I hope that I can get more time to make some performance packages and etc this winter. I need to get my hands on a bone stock Elise and go through the various stages, dynoing after each, to help you guys see the difference... or maybe do the stage mods to one of my cars (I would have to unsupercharge them and that seems nuts!:)). Would be nice if a customer could benefit from all the work :D

I take it we are still waiting on 08+ compatibility?
Yes. End of the month maybe...

Where's that torque200 listing on the order page and dyno plot?
See above. I'll happily make one, but laying low until I get some more time. I've been spending my extra tuning/ECU development time each day on finalizing the T4 release. Fantastic news on that front, BTW ;)

Humm, sounds interesting, but mine is B300, can the cable and software work with B300 ECU?
B300? How do you mean? THe ECUs are all the same. The software will allow for full editing of any of the T4e ECUs (once black dash support is available of course) regardless of the map that's in it. If you want to be able to tweak the B300 tune, you're welcome to. It's just a 260 tune for the most part.--Very few changes.

At a certain point, there's only so much peak power than can be derived from the motor in its relatively stock state. Where the really neat stuff comes in, and what we did with the torque tunes, is to fill in that entire area "under the curve". The lotus and other aftermarket tunes have virtually no improvement to this area. All our tunes are dramatically more potent in part throttle and mid range. That area of the power band is what having complete ECU control really allows you to improve.
At the very high end where peak numbers come from, tuning is pretty easy...

Of course, there's additional customization with a full editor such as shift lights, cold running operation, air intake changes, IAT compensation changs, knock table sensativity, emissions, etc, etc.... Again, you can do basically anything you want with the end-user suites...

T4 Update

Yes, it works! :D

I had originally mentioned that T4 guys would not have live tuning (tuning the ECU while the car is running)... then Hackish and I put our heads together and started over with it-- again! This time with Live tuning for T4 as part of the plan. In addition to the live tune, was adding CANBUS communication for the AIM and motec type telemetry devices all at once... Bottom line, in an effort to do this only once, we had to sort of start over. The good news is ~2:15AM this morning we got the everything talking and walking on our beta software! Great news. There is obviously some clean up to do and we have to write another couple patches in to make it good for primetime. I'm happy to report that the T4 (2005) cars will essentailly have just as good of a product and flexability as the T4e (2006+) cars!

Cheers,

Phil

Phil, Just in time! :D My car is in Valencia, Spain right now and scheduled to depart on the 15th. They say it will in Baltimore on the 29th...

Do you mean the tune is ready for 2008 black dash?

B300 from Sector111 has open up the ECU and replaced a chip. So can Fastworks work on it without send the ECU to you?

No black dash love yet. The 2005 has robbed me of many hours of sleep so I'm ready to take a break for a week or two. Should be some exciting new developments with the T4E coming soon too.

1..I want to be the first one in line for the black dash.
2. How much to be a dealer?

Few quick questions:

Q1. Assuming that the software supports live tuning with the T4 ecu in the future is there a preference on which ecu is preferred ie: T4/T4e?

Q2. In the first post under the Level 2 editor section it states "We will provide a base map with this software that is designed for the end user to dial in" Is this map a direct export of the oem map or a map that you have developed?

Q3. My understating is there is a oem MAP sensor but it is not used. Are you able to used the map sensor as a load reference? If not does the software have the ability to run alternate MAF sensors like a HPX which has different sensor curves. (To be honest haven't researched what the oem maxes out at)

PS: the reason i ask about the T4/T4e is that i'm in the market for an exige and rather know to make an educated decision.

T4 Ready

So T4 is ready

(For the noobs, T4 is 2005 cars)

Hackish and I have T4 where it's ready to go. My oh my, is amazing on the 05s. It's not secret that the 05 cars have had less ECU development done than the 06+ cars (T4e) and that the 05 super/turbo charged cars running the stock ECU have lacked in performanced compared to the 06+ cars due to the lack of ECU development on the T4. With the Fastworks Editor, we have the T4 opened up just like the T4e.

We have live tune, data logging, etc available for T4. Similar package deals like with T4e with Torque tunes coming with diagnostics, flash, data logging, and then upgrades to level 1 editor and level 2 editor available---- or you can just buy the level 2 editor from the git-go.

As we create Torque tunes available for purchase, we will add to the website. The first one that is complete is Rev300. Torque picked up is, wait for it, wait for it.... 30 ftlbs at 6,000RPM.:drool: Topend power is about the same but everything "under the curve" is dramatically improved. Just like all Torque tunes, putting the peak numbers aside, you'll get from A to B much faster with so much additional power "under the curve". Throttle transitions, emission monitor tweaking, etc is all totally customizable.

Next on the list is REV310 and then REV400. We will then get into the baby blowers such as Katana/BWR and REV250....

I will not have the website updated for a few days. Please sit tight on ordering until you see the 2005 option available on the website.

Cool. at SEMA the first week in November :D

There are no chips to replace. Sector and VF just remove the back of the ECU to flash the ECU through the BDM port because they don't know how to flash via the OBD2 port. They're not actually replacing or adding a chip. So in the case of upgrading to the Fastworks stuff, you simply plug into the OBD2 port.

Are updates no additional cost?
Have you looked at some of the data visualizations in EEC Analyzer
Or EFILive for the corvette guys?
Software updates are generally no cost. Tune updates obviously would be.

The T4e is still a better ECU than the T4. It's more capable. That said, the T4 isn't bad and in some ways easier to tune and in some ways harder--- both are very nice ECUs though! I think you have additional research to do about what models are available in particular years. In the US, 05s have T4s. 06+ have T4e. Exige only available in US 06+...

Cheers!

Phil
