2005 Supercharged Chrome Orange Elise $36,900

For sale is my Chrome Orange 2005 Lotus Elise. This car has been a great and reliable car that has been well cared for and improved while I’ve had the opportunity to own. I had a small window to purchase another car not really in cycle, and there isn’t enough space in the garage to keep everything - although I’m not going to be disappointed every day this ad stays live and I get to stare at it before going to work each morning.

I purchased the car 3 years ago, been working and improving it along the way, including the addition of the majority of the engine performance parts on the list like the BOE 300 supercharger kit. All work completed while in my possession was completed by a Ferrari certified technician (who used to work for the former Lotus dealership when in Salt Lake City). The car and its engine have been reviewed and improved with each checkup, especially with the supercharger kit for cam wear or engine compression/leakage concerns.

Very sad to see this one go. This is probably been my favorite car to date, a true drivers car. As someone who has owned many enthusiast cars in their lifetime, this is by far one of the most fun and exhilarating cars to experience, and look forward to meeting its new owner and hope they feel the same way.

With the updated price change I believe I am now the cheapest clean title supercharged Elise in the country.

I talked to seller yesterday. Very nice guy and knowledgeable about the car.

Quick question for seller and the peanut gallery:

If I buy this car, how will it run on a 115 degree (120+ highway temps) day, zero moisture in the air, on 91 octane? I have already leaned out and blown two engines (EJ257 in a Subaru WRX STI and modded EA888 2.0T in an Audi) in this weather over the past 6 years. Thoughts?

Maybe carry a can of Torco and add enough to get you to a minimum of 93. I use it to go from 93 to 98-100 when at the track. It can handle the hwy heat but it does need 93 at a minimum.

Unfortunately, I am going to pass on this car.
That's where I ended up too, primarily because of the 100K miles. Thankfully it's reflected in the price so the seller seems very fair-minded. The mods are very tasteful so I'll admit I thought twice, but that's a lot of time on the road, even on a Lotus frame and Toyota drivetrain.

Messaged seller several days ago. Slow to respond, usually only at night. Benefit of the doubt that he's busy with work during the day which I can relate to. Asked for more info and vids, which he sent. Said car was available, didn't indicate any other interested parties. I sent this message which is clear that I intended to purchase:

"Thanks for the vids and info. Do you have the title in hand? Can you send me the VIN? Would you need a deposit or would you be ok with a bill of sale agreement? As I’ve never bought a car privately this far away before, we’d need to discuss payment method. I’d most likely arrange for a shipper to pick up the car. Let me know if you’re free tomorrow for a call."

Again, doesn't mention any other parties. Sent me the VIN and replies with this:

"Today I have wall-to-wall meetings, but would happy to discuss further this afternoon after 5 PM Mountain time."

I call him tonight and he tells me he worked out wire arrangement with another buyer today. I sent a follow up email after our call to tell express my disappointment and give him a chance to make it right. No reply. I feel beyond disgusted. Best of luck to whoever got the car out from under me, hope he doesn't screw you over too.

Not a big deal. Somebody probably just made it very easy for him to say "yes". Being easy to do business with goes a long way. He at least told you that you are out of the running. That's enough. He owes you nothing else. It's best to move on and look around for something else.
