Of interest for Chrome Orange fans and Canadian owners
I just got the final version of my certificate from Andy at Lotus. Quite interesting information...no wonder why I never see an Evora here in Canada...so rare! I certainly recommend to all of you if you haven't done so.
North American chrome orange car owners, here's what I learned. My car is C25 Chrome Orange after all! My dealer thought it was a different orange. Andy's explanation is as follows:
We did change the paint process back in late 2010. What they did was change the tinting process; hence the colours appear different in different lighting. The earlier cars have B prefix to the paint code, i.e. B25 and you had the base colour coat, then a tinted clear coat with the metallic pigments. The new Cromax Pro painting system with C prefix, i.e. C25, the metallic pigments are in the base coat, with a clear coat over the top. In simple terms the metallic pigments are no longer in the top coat, so do not reflect as much light making the car appears darker.
I also learned that I would have the only Evora S C25 Chrome Orange with factory black pack ever produced for North America (my dealer was right on that). There would also be another one in the US but it is a 2011 Evora NA for which the black pack was applied by Lotus but in the US, not at the factory. Does any forum member own this 2011 Evora NA? Obviously, these stats don't reflect any after market modifications.
Here are a few stats related to Canada:
- The 2014 model year Evora models only consisted of 2x Evora NA, 1x Evora NA IPS, 8x Evora S (mine was 6th of 8th), 4x Evora S IPS
- For cars in Chrome Orange, there is 1x 2010 Evora NA (painted with the B25 lighter tone), 1 x 2011 Evora NA and 1 x 2011 Evora S and my car which is a 2014 Evora S with black pack
- There has been only 2 Evoras with optional black pack ever produced for Canada, mine and a 2013 Evora S in Solar Yellow
- The 2015 model year saw the introduction Sports Racer models with black pack as standard. To date, there are 7 Sports Racer available in grey, blue and one in toxic green (there's one of each at Gentry Lane leaving 4 grey or blue for the rest of the country).
Canadians, do you know in which city the other Chrome Orange Evoras are and where the Solar Yellow with black pack is?
