I'll just start this out right - I have no idea what I am doing and am looking forward to any and all input.

I have a new muffler coming to me created for the Evora by Cam Benty
@ Flowmaster and I want to get this installed once I get my car back from the people who are removing the taint the drunk driver who plowed into it left behind.

Goals: Remove the silencer, shorten the distance the gasses have to travel, and if possible get a nice 2x2 quad tip to expel the new sound out the back.

The new muffler:

Would it be possible to put this exhaust straight back and add a tip to the end like this? And would it be smart?

How does the length of the exhaust tube effect the sound as well as HP/Torque? Also does wrapping your exhaust do anything besides keep ambient temperatures down?

As for the tips - I think I would love to see the Pagoni Zonda 2x2 tips shoved in the middle of my difflow diffuser.

Thanks in advance for your ideas, comments, flames, critiques, help, and general presence in the thread. :coolnana:

Thanks.. I was wondering what size valve to buy for my own custom exhaust setup. The guys at my muffler shop suggested I buy the parts in advance so they can do the measurements when they take off the covers.

Quad tips would look pretty awesome however it would require a custom rear grill.

Seeing that your muffler is that small, I would totally go straight back. The benefits would be pretty significant:
- Healthy weight reduction (over 40lbs worth of steel). Stock silencer is 37lbs+10lbs of accompanying steel tubing & front resonator. Colin Chapman would approve :)
- Shorter, less restrictive exhaust gas travel
- Less surface area to generate heat in exhaust bay
- Increased clearance means you can do some major heat wrapping.
- All of that adds up to tremendous reduction in radiant heat transferred to engine bay, improved throttle response, greater horsepower and improved overall power-to-weight.

I don't think it could be easier than that for any muffler shop.

I would love to hear it when you have everything done. My custom exhaust system is still in the works and is not nearly as simple...

Is that new muffler really smaller than the cat?

I have a slightly bigger 2bular muffler on my elise, and it's damn loud. It's bearable putting around town, but on the highway or open throttle, it's obnoxious. At my last track day, I had strangers coming up to me and teasing me about how loud it was.

-edit-
Here's mine:

It looks like it's smaller diameter, so yours might not be so bad.

You really have to remove the factory headers if you want to have any kind of ripping V6 exhaust note.
With a Pre-cat in each header PLUS the main Cat, even the "Sports Exhausts" have a job making themselves heard.

Factory header:

Shopping trolley standard - just get the Pre-cat in there:

There's a good chunk of power and torque to be had from getting rid of this:

Good luck!

Flange and temporary tip should be ordered today so I should have something substantial to post next week about install, recreation, and most importantly how it sounds.

If there is a good Dyno in OKC that anyone has heard of I would be willing to run it there as well and get that posted as well but seeing as I have never done that - I'll be asking around to find a place lol.

I will be putting a concerted effort forth to find the right guy in the next couple days to get this together. My previous attempt had it for a month and gave excuses as to why it wasn't going forward and finished with "I'm just too busy" and gave it back to me yesterday... So I start again.

I'm going to resurrect this link since we have some leftover funds lying around and wanted to know if there were any exhaust updates. I'm deciding between getting the Plack exhaust and bolting it on, or having my tuner fabricate one of his custom exhausts for my 2011 NA. I told my tuner that if we do fabricate a custom exhaust he should aim for a more "throaty" tone, and I would like carbon fiber tips instead of stainless steel which he said he was able to do. Either way I'm not coming out of pocket for this, but the Larini, being more expensive would cost me a few dollars more. I do prefer the sound of the Plack anyway.

Are there any updates since this thread was started in 2012?
