Welcome to computerized cars - throttle opening is no long just a function of pedal position but also rpm AND MODE. In tour, you’ll get less throttle opening at half pedal than you will in sport. This absolutely will put less load on the engine, and the people who sign the warranty think this matters during break-in.
You just repeated what I said. Throttle opening respective of position varies. I have HATED hyper pedal for the past 25yrs..............look at all the idiots putting throttle controllers on their cars thinking its now quicker..........which it is not, but for example ,fuel economy nosedives due to constant flucuations in throttle opening. They are your whiplash traffic drivers also.
If these knuckle heads had a clue, they'd be telling you to avoid lugging the motor in high gears...that has always been harsh on engines. In other words, do not drive up hills at 1500rpms till motor properly broken in. I go back to the pre cats problems. I bet they need time to bake in place. Several blew out at dealers when the new motor was revved aggressively for customers. My dealer told me about this years ago.

Exactly could. Tranlated, no need to use sport mode as you should not be using WOT yet. Independent of modeIf WOT occurs at 60-75% in sport mode, and you can have just as much fun using 60-75% of the pedal travel in normal, why bother...THey now know there are some parts that need time...I fully predict its the pre cats!!!

besides, ECU will tell them all they need to know, peak, transients etc...Never let them do one................at least i didn't have to back in 2014. Joys of having it shipped from CA to CT

Funny, we were in sport mode yesterday on a zero mile car............................just drove it with respect, no redlines!!! Just another fool looking for views

My salesman told me on this past Wednesday, when I finally took delivery of my emira, that lotus no longer require 1000 mile break in. I’m still going to break in the engine properly but, I was startled by this and have been looking for info online to back up his claim. Any one else been told this?

I would get that in writing if he truly said that.

He truly did. Weird right? I’m calling him after the 4th to discuss further. Will post what I find

That would be great. It's just a little insurance on top of the warranty in case they or another dealer deny you the warranty work due to improper break in procedures. I'm sure they're aware and somewhat flexible about it because they know most of their customers can't resist toggling that sport button for 1000 miles. It's bound to happen lol.

I'd love to see in writing where use of sport cancels your warranty. They run a dump at 100miles looking for sustained high rpm use. That is all they care about. It isn't even good for a motor to troll for a 1000 miles. For 40years, I have always added some rpms every 100 miles. By 500 miles they have always seen a full tach, just nothing sustained. In simple English, this means run it thru a few gears...have some fun. They are most concerned about the folks that pull out of the showroom and beat the crap out of it. Why does everybody get so OCD about thus. It's a Toyota motor built to last 300000 miles, not some hyper motor.
