Mind Blown! look at these aftermarket upgrade parts for Deloreans - they sure look like they would fit an Esprit

Very expensive but.

Check out the:
  • Stainless rear trailing arm
  • Stainless Chassis (A few tweeks could work for an Esprit?)
  • Upper and lower control arms front and rear
  • Brake upgrade
  • Rear trailing arm Radius Arm mount
I doubt they would send me some pieces to test fit but going to have to ask.

While similar, there are a lot of differences between Deloreans and Lotus's. I doubt there is much that can be used directly without a lot of modifications. The main reason for the S/S parts is that the Delorean parts were made out of mild steel and coated with an epoxy. After so many years the expoxy gets brittle and cracks allowing moisture to rot the underlying metal. S/S is also heavier so be aware of it's effects on "Unsprung Weight". Because of the costs S/S parts are not all that popular. You can still get the steel parts for a lot less. With all of that said there are a LOT of parts that are interchangeable like fuel system parts for the K-Jet.

Yeah - I inquired about the weight savings on the SS rear radius arm and they said it was not much, they mentioned that the wall thickness was significant.

The owner said he would be willing to check fit if I sent him some cores, he also said he would modify the CAD/CAM so they would fit if needed.

I am surprised there is enough Delorean market for a business like this. Very cool.

You may as well make an Esprit frame out of stainless than try to modify a stainless DeLorean frame to work in an Esprit. Other than the fact they both have a rectangular tunnel connecting the front to the rear, they are very different. The front frame in a DeLorean forks to the front suspension to make space for a fuel tank. The engine and gearbox in the DeLorean are mounted backwards compared to the Esprit, so the rear frame in a DeLorean is narrow around the gearbox and widens to accommodate the engine. I don't think any of the mount points are the same between the frames. I haven't actually physically compared suspension parts between my Esprits and my DeLorean, but they don't look to be interchangeable.

I did not realize this - that is why the exhaust systems are so short. So its more like a Porsche 911. Mind Blown again.

The mount points on the rectangular tunnel look the same but probably not. I was just looking at the suspension out riggers and thinking they had to be the same. Did not realize the architecture was so different.

Fascinating to see the obvious influences.

Have you seen the vid of the Delorean with the TT Kia V6? That thing is a rocket.
