Opened up an automotive magazine and about fell out of my chair. It's our Great Pumpkin top left in full effect with junior at the helm. Thought it was kinda cool. So check out the Tirerack ad's. :) :mw:

I don't have a scanner so I just took a pic which is very small, but you get the gist of the ad.

I would think since your sporting their banners and all that you are sponsered by them.
The Tire Rack is a series sponsor for all National events. All participants are required to have the banner on their windshield. I can't find it anymore now, but I know that in the past there was language somewhere saying that the SCCA has the right to use pictures of your car taken at ProSolos. I looked it up one time after pictures of my Subaru started showing up in ads. Of course I was happy about it, but I was still curious if they should have asked me first. It turns out that they didn't have to, you sign away your rights by running at the event.

Yes it is true they do not need to ask at National Events....but it is still kinda rude not to give a head's up or an attaboy or whatever to the car owner and car driver. They have all the information they'd need to do so, and plenty of time to do this due to print ad time lag / delays.

Stan, where do they get their pictures? Do they have a tirerack photographer?

Shay2, yeah we were running with the whole superstock pillager thing ;) We put them on both sides of the car on the lower bumper.

>>>Stan, where do they get their pictures? Do they have a tirerack photographer?<<<

That is a good question...I suspect that they may select from suitable images sent in to them by event photographers, the club, or other enterprising types. So someone could have made money on the image besides Tire Rack.

As far as I can tell the image has been photoshopped for motion blur & other things, BTW.

Yeah, if it were shutter I think the wheels would be moving too. I was just curious because I cant tell where that photo was taken. The photo that appeared in the last few Sportscars were from Jeff Cashmore, but that one doesn't look like a cashmore photo. I guess I was just curious how the photo caught the eye of tirerack and who took it.

Do you have a source for more of the pirate stickers?

"So a pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel sticking out of his pants. The bartender asks him "Why do you have a steering wheel sticking out of your pants?"

The pirate replies - "Arrhhh... I don't know.. but its driving me nuts"

Arrrrhhhh

"So a pirate walks into a bar. The bartender says 'Captain Bligh!, haven't seen you for six months, you look awful, what happened to you?.
'Ay', says the pirate, well, we was in a sword battle and I lost me hand. Now I've got me this hook.' (He shows the bartender his silver hook where his hand use to be).
'And then a cannon ball took me leg and I had to get this here wooden stump.' (He lifts his leg showing the bartender the new peg-leg).
'Then on the way back from the battle I looked up and a bird pooped in me eye. That's why I got me this eye patch.'
But Captain, says the bartender, how did bird poop - I mean, woudn't it just wash out?
'Well', sais the Captain, 'Twas me first day with the hook'.

Harharharhar!

Good thing you guys stopped mummifying the Orange car with blue painters tape before autocross events. Anyone remember the old pictures? At this point the car has been in Sports Car magazine and Tire Rack ads which would not have happened were it covered with masking tape.

No tape ever for me. I'll replace the starshield next year, so I'm not all that concerned about it anyway. The Elise should look good on track! That's not possible with tape everywhere.

We had not been running national events up till the point where we took it off. I think someone asked me how long it takes to put that tape on, it really doesnt take long, maybe 15 minutes for the full tape job, and it saves a lot of time getting cone marks off.

For locals I see nothing wrong with the tape if you dont want to spend an hour buffing off cone marks. To me it's more of a practical thing, I like my cars to look nice on the street, and with a light color like orange, the cones really show up.

We had it on at Toledo for practice runs and took it off for the main event for the very reason you described.

Side note, Ive found a product that takes the cone marks off, racers glaze. So its not as much of an issue now and I probably wont worry about the tape even on a local level now that I know I can get the marks off.
