In case anyone is wondering: The 2-lead plug that everyone keeps mentioning is called an "SAE Plug" and they're used for all kinds of things in automotive electrical accessories. Most battery tender type chargers will use them (not just the Deltran ones). If I remember correctly even a lot of powered motorcycle gear (think heated vests/pants/etc) will use these connectors as well, since it's pretty universal for motorcycle battery tenders, not just cars. There are probably even air compressors that run off these plugs, for you track minded folks :)

You're right. They are also widely available. The Cetek chargers have their own specific connectors that are only available through Cetek... at about $25 a pop....

Could you elaborate with any more details? I'm interested in this.

I went to start my Exige today and the battery had died.
The Elise/Exige can be charged through the 12v socket in the cabin since it is "hot" using a cig adapter. This is how I have been doing it for the last 10+ yrs. I have used Deltrans but had two die on me. Don't get me wrong on them though, they are great tenders and lasted 8+ years. I got my money's worth out of them. I have now switched over and own 3 of the Schumacher 3A maintainers (for Elise, Evora and my Sea Doo). I like the flexibility that it can charge all battery types, including Lithium. They also come with the ring pigtails, clamps and cig adapter in the box so you won't have to go out and purchase separately.

DOH! The official Lotus Charger cable is pretty short....I need about 4 more feet so it does not hang. Looks like Im going to have to figure something out. I only have 1 outlet in the Garage and its right by the door, which creates a tripping hazard. .

Battery Tender® 6 FT Extension Cable

I use 3 of their 25' extensions. They work great

My CTEK has worked perfectly for years. Fun fact: Koenigseggs come with a CTEK.
I've got a CTEK and it seems to work well. It will go through a full battery conditioning cycle similar to a full fledged BMS. My unit has settings for smaller battery capacities (like the Deka and so forth) in case that's what you have.

I am not certain but pretty sure that if you buy a new Evora you now get a Lotus branded CTEK maintainer with it. The Evora GT I had the use of over the past years' holidays had one in the boot.

I am prototyping a replacement License plate light with Magnetic Power Block for Trickle Charger. It will also have a built-in LED panel. Left and Right sides.
