Hi Everyone,
I have a pair of Probax Elise seats listed now for sale. I was contacted by a buyer that goes by OmarP. He joined LT 23 days ago. He doesn’t sound legit.

This morning he informs he will pay sales price via PayPal. I am concerned he could send payment but when I go to collect the payment there is a problem. Or I ship the seats and he claims he never received them.

Does anyone have any advice/ info about this? It sounds very iffy to me.

Thanks

I got scammed on another forum but I would like to add my input here as well.

If someone replies to one of your Wanted Ad. Never send them money via the Friends & Family. You will not have buyers protection and Paypal will not help you. Also, you can google his Paypal email to see if it's linked to anything suspicious.

Recently happened to me. Serial scammer holmestasha376@gmail.com

scammer hit me up from this board StoneMills and poached me with this email harrisvely@gmail.com for a starter panel that i had posted in the parts wanted section. Catsailr27 came to the rescue as i smelled fish and he confirmed, thanks again sir, everyone be safe, happy holidays and best of luck in the new year!

Just had 2 points of contact email me about my thread for WTB ultra disk brake rotors.
They were
Cowell176@gmail.com
And
stevejames887766@gmail.com
The Stevejames shows as banned.
Any insight on either of these?

Thanks
Lane

I would caution anyone doing business with user "guendouzi"

I accepted a low ball offer just to make space in my garage. 1 wheel was bent when received, unknown to myself or previous owners. We were working it out through the PayPal dispute resolution where the buyer would fix or return the entire set to me. While in the middle of the resolution he issued a chargeback through his financial establishment. PayPal took my money immendiatly, charged me a chargeback fee and there has been no communication directly with the buyer.

I have been out the money and wheels since May and in doubt that this will get resolved even with previous communication. This has been my only negative experience though LotusTalk as I have bought/sold many items on here without any issues for a lot more money.

And here I am debating if I should post about you over a potential mistake on your part, but you decide to lie and try to call me a scammer. Read on.

Linwozzle recently (in May) sold me a set of Lotus 240R wheels that were refinished in Spanish Gold. According to him, no rashes or bends or damage to the wheels at all. I got them shipped directly to Gator Motorsport which I'm sure you're familiar with as one of the better Lotus dealerships stateside. I had my car there for work, so I figured send them there and they can install them right away. They received the wheels and realized one of them was severely bent as it went on the machine, and was unsafe for driving. Additionally, all 4 wheels were pretty badly scuffed all over. I reached back out to the seller, and he was not willing to cover any damage charges at first, but then said he would cover the cost to fix the bend on the one wheel. I told him I would need money to refinish all 4 wheels, as refinishing just 1 will look vastly different from the others based on who is doing the work and the clear coat and other things. He refused, so I filed a claim with Amex/PayPal.

Fast forward a few weeks, I took the wheels over to a wheel shop to get them refinished and fix the bend. They respond back and tell me that the wheel is beyond repair as it was damaged at the face/hub. Something that the seller had to have known about surely. I haven't been in touch with him since I filed the dispute to avoid any issues, but this has been a nightmare to deal with for me and now it is evident that this guy is a liar. He also has a few other listings of wheels, in which they show damage but he doesn't state it. He has ignored all comments and messages regarding damage on the wheels he's selling.

I created a post asking for advice on FB, and a lot of the comments I got were validating my concerns. Maybe it was an honest mistake on his part, maybe not. But there seems to be a pattern. Ultimately, he was the one who stopped responding to my messages when I was suggesting accommodations, and that was before I found out that one of the wheels is completely junked and not fixable. I called every repair shop I know, even reached out to experts in the UK regarding the damage of the wheel, and everyone said the same thing: it is not fixable.

Here's the listing for the wheels: 240R Wheels

Here's another listing for wheels he has that seem sketchy: RS134 Monolite Wheels with Advan A052 Tires

Here's a video of the damaged wheel: Bent 240R wheel

I've also attached photos of the wheels when Gator received them. They took these pictures.

I would suggest that you both open the lines of communication return wheels to original seller and make sure the buyer gets his money back. LT doesn't get involved in Marketplace disputes but if rules are broken members will be banned.

I'm just giving a fair warning to the community as I've never had any issues selling/buying from here and have been an active Texas Lotus member. I would be more cautious of new members.

The wheels were purchased from a reputable source with no issues, I had them refinished and never installed so was not aware of any issues. Condition of the finish is shown in the original posting pictures. Obviously would be open to resolving if was communicated with the updates, guess since you've already received your money back and kept the wheels for months it doesn't matter.

Last message received, never refused a partial refund as the dispute was still open, chargeback filed next day so money was already removed from my account with no further communication from the buyer. Nothing was refused on settling the dispute and you were already getting them fixed. This is the first I have heard of anything updates.

Once again you are claiming I scammed you when I have done nothing wrong here. You falsely advertised and sold wheels that were damaged. And you are posting a screenshot of the PayPal dispute, not the messages that I’m referring to. Here are the last 2 messages I sent you through LT with no response back from you. Mind you this was also before I found out the severity of the damage of one of the wheels.
My guess is you bought some beat up wheels for cheap and you got them refinished hoping to make a quick buck, not realizing that one of the wheels is completely junked. Then when your plan to get UPS to pay for them fell through, you came on here to cry wolf.

I've had these wheels for years with no intention of selling, I was selling at a loss to your lowball offer.

Never claimed you scammed me. Just stating the facts that you have both the wheels and money and I'm out of both. Although PayPal is now telling me the chargeback was filed as an unauthorized transaction is suspicious.

The UPS claim was just for myself to recoup any money I would be losing if successful through them. I was unable to due to your stop of communication. Otherwise what would've been the point of me to take on the extra cost of shipping insurance myself? Not to mention you wanting me to send to a different address than that listed on PayPal should've been a red flag. I had to cancel that payment initially.

The communication from LT was not replied to because the dispute was filed after that with the same messages and all communication was through there.

First of all, this is the second time you mention a low ball offer. You had the wheels listed for 2 months before I bought them from you, and I offered $2,900 to your asking of $3,300. I wouldn't call that low-ball, and you didn't even bother to counter-offer. This is again, on you.

Secondly, you claim to not call me a scammer but you are posting about this in a thread literally titled "Beware of Scammers". So which is it?

Third, you claim I stopped communication when you were the one who clearly stopped communicating with me on LT. And not once did you acknowledge or agree to paying back any costs that involved the 4 wheels, you only wanted to cover a refinish of one wheel. Again, this all happened BEFORE I even found out that one of the wheels was completely junked. So that makes everything even worse.

Finally, you canceling that initial payment was because I clearly communicated to you what the situation was. I told you my car was at a dealership. The address I gave you was literally that dealership which you can easily google. You did me a favor by sending them over there initially but you also shot yourself in the foot because they were the ones who found out the wheels were in poor shape. I'm thankful for that because I probably wouldn't have been able to determine that myself. At no point did I scam you or ignore your requests. I was the one trying to make all the accommodations and you were not cooperating or responding. Not to mention the fact that I spent so much time and money dealing with this mess. I went from shop to shop trying to get a reasonable price for you to be able to work with me on. I incurred the cost of fitting the wheels to my current tires, and then finding out one was bent, and then incurring the costs of removing them and fitting and balancing my original wheels to the car. All of this headache because you sold me shitty wheels that you thought could be masked with a very poor refinishing job. The only way these wheels are salvageable as a set at this point is if I am able to find a 17" wheel (rear) and buy that, and refinish all 4 wheels again. That is a pipe dream given the rarity and age of this wheel design.

Bottom line is you were a dishonest seller who was not willing to own up to your fault, accidental or not.

You literally still have my wheels with no intent on returning them and your money back from your bank (which they deducted from mine). I have nothing else to add.

IMO this is really kinda the actual bottom line here. I once sold a set of wheels that the buyer found cracks in when he had them magnafluxed. He returned the wheels and I refunded the purchase price - no harm, no foul and I disclosed the magnaflux results when I listed them again. I only know what's been posted in this particular case, but keeping the wheels after getting the refund seems a little sketchy to me.

He never asked for his wheels back. I do not want them at this point either. I was trying to keep them before when there was a chance I could get them fixed/refinished but now that one of the wheels is complete junk they are just collecting dust in my garage. I never said I wouldn't be willing to give him his wheels back. This guy just cut all communication with me for months and came on here to call me a scammer. If he wants these wheels back he can DM me and pay for shipping himself.

Never ever said I wouldn't return the wheels. I originally said (and you can see it in the screenshot on top) that I would like to keep the wheels and get them fixed, which is why I was asking for a partial refund from you and that is when you stopped responding and denied the fact that they were more damaged than you thought they were when you listed them. Again, this is before I was told that one of the wheels is unfixable. So yeah, I am not a scammer. I just filed a dispute with Amex because that was my only way of protecting myself since you were refusing to acknowledge the damage. Feel free to DM me and we can work out getting the wheels back to you, but I am not paying for shipping and handling. They never made it onto my car and I've already spent far too much time and money on these wheels that are just sitting in my garage.
