Front or rear plate? My rear has one where the plate lights go.

 

Yeah I do too. I thought my car was missing lights at first but I believe it's just "added lightness" :up:

 

ran the wiring up through there for the backup camera on my Exige.

 

Yeah, that is the grab handle used to pull the car around when the wind up motor no longer works.

My '06 Exige has the cut-out, too. :tadts:

 

It is believed that the "cut out" is a left of of the manufacturing process jigging. They all have it, and there seems to be no other purpose for it. :shrug:

The top of the hole is the underside of the trunk, so it can make some wiring jobs easy.

Mine has it. I used it to install my rear camera.

 

ohh cool.. I was wondering why I had that there. It looked like a hole for something custom .. glad to know it's stock lol

 

Could it be an air vent?

Maybe to stop air pressure building up in the boot/trunk when you are driving at speed.

Just a thought.

 

I have the cutout. I thought it was meant for some sort of draining system?

 

I use this access on my 2005 Elise for the battery tender cable. Saves me from having to open the boot to charge the car.

The other day I drove the car forgetting to remove the charger I found it about a 1/2 mile away. -eek- Little scrapped up but no worse. I now put a sign on the dash so I remember when it is charging.

 

Mine has the hole as well.
